Where'd my post go?
I joined bartertown just last month, and posted a long trade list ("[H] OOP WHFB & 40K, 20mm WWII, 15mm fantasy [W] chaos"), and now I can't find it. It no longer appears under my profile. I never bumped it, or otherwise over-promoted it to attract the annoyance of any mods. I've read over the rules of the forum, and the FAQs, and can't see anything obvious I might've done (I've had my password reset once, is it even possible that could have messed something up?)
Did something happen a few weeks ago where posts disappeared? Any other suggestions as to what might have happened? Should I just re-post? Thanks in advance.

Re: Where'd my post go?
Trade ads only have a 3 week life span. While there are circumstances that can make it last longer, that should be the presumed life span.

It's just one of the facets of the software that runs the site.

I highly recommend rocking a copy and paste into a word file for those long, long trade threads. I've been there with losing a long post because I forgot to repost for a while. The only downside is that you have to remember to keep that word file also updated.

That's great advice. I was cutting and pasting from a dakkadakka trade thread, but yes, it does get tough to manage all these updates!reegsk wrote:I highly recommend rocking a copy and paste into a word file for those long, long trade threads. Link? Some forums are not being pruned properly, and we're tracking down the issue.
I've also been mucking with the site some today, so some of the oddball issues could be my fault.

Re: Where'd my post go?
Yeah, that's in one of the forums that isn't being pruned properly. I'll see if I can get them to be auto-pruned like normal.
EDIT: Auto-pruning was turned off, for some reason. I've turned it back on, set everything for a 3-week lifetime, and then I manually pruned everything older than 3-weeks old.
Thanks for the info, hopefully these changes will keep this from happening again.

Re: Where'd my post go?
Thanks for that info too, Plarz. I've PM'd a mod to ask that the FAQ be updated to let folks know that threads have a three week lifespan (typically).
Quick question: is it three weeks after the post first goes up, or three weeks after the last activity in the post?
