I hate.. no, I LOATHE Paypal!!!

Well, I threw a bunch of items up for auction on Ebay. it has been a while, but my "prize Closet" is stuffed to overfilling, and while watching a show called "Hoarders", i got the message- sell off the stuff i will never use.

People bid on and bought my stuff.

Thye paid for it by PAYPAL.

Now, paypal wont give me my money for a MONTH. i called and asked why, seeing as my PAYPAL and EBAY ratings are both at 100% with like 160+ auctions...

In a roundabout way, they called me a "potential thief", and they will release the money after i send the items.

reality is they are doing this to everyone, and they are doing it to just gain intrest off the money they are holding. Sure, my 2 grand in sales is not much, but when 100,000 people have that, the intrest adds up quick!

So, all this is to say that i HATE paypal, and since they own EBAY, i hate them too. It has been a while since I posted stuff up here, but it looks like I will soon, and I am not joking when i say my closet is FULL of GW merchandise...

Anyone lese have PAYPAL issues?

What you must be mistaken. Paypal is the fast secure way to send money.

I have debated myself over and over about getting paymasterpal, and with ebays help I decide not to over and over. I will eventually though I 'm sure(I think).

Do you have a relatively new PayPal account, or have you not received many payments?

It's my understanding that the only people subjected to this are people who don't have a certain degree of proven stability. Now, that's not to say you're unstable. lol I just meant that perhaps you didn't hit that threshhold they look for.

Personally, I've never had that problem. I mean, I have my issues with PayPal (and they truly ARE my preferred way to send and receive money), but I've been on for.. Hell, I don't even KNOW how long. Probably 10 or more years.

Mind you, I'm not trying to take anything away from you. Their shenaniganery is well known, and I've experienced enough of my own to totally understand where yuo're coming from. In the end, though, I believe that -however flawed their logic sometimes- they truly do have the best interest of their customers in mind.

You say they hold it for a month "just gain intrest off the money they are holding." I totally disagree with that. I believe that is a side-effect of their process that they enjoy fully, but I don't think that's why they do it. By holding the money for a month (or until the buyer reports it as received), they protect the buyer's money. Unfortunately, too many dishonest sellers have made this a near-necessity.
Now, if they could just think of a way to protect against dishonest buyers.

It must be an ebay only thing. I'v enever had any of my money held for even an hour.

I sell on amazon.com now instead of ebay. Minis and scuh, unless NIB can't be sold, and amazon, sets the price for shipping. They take a higher % per sale, but don't charge a listing fee, it's not an auction, so it's up forever, for 1 final sale fee. If you take the item down, there is no fee. They all give you credit for the sale when you buy postage thru them. the fee is under $1.

AND ebay owns paypal. They bought them 'to help protect our customers and help our sellers get paid".

I'll talk to a guy at work tomorrow who sells alot of various things at ebay and see what he says about being paid.

I haven't had any problems with them holding my money on Ebay. I have over 1000+ feed, so that might have something to do with it. I don't know, all I know is it works for me.

I never have any problems with PayPal holding my money. Are your accounts all verified and the like? Maybe it has to do with the volume of sales you did in such a short period? Especially if you've had a particularly long period where you haven't received anything.

It's in the PayPal or feebay rules somewhere. It has to do with the $ value of the sale and the rating (or age) of the feebay account.

As a note about the fine print, I recently found out that paypal does not protect all digital purchases. With big companies, this matters less, but I bought some web hosting recently, which the company never delivered on, and paypal wouldn't protect my purchase.

In short, watch out. I only use paypal because there's no fast alternative.

Mark my words... one of these days, someone with deep enough pockets, the desire and the time is going to take PayPal to task in court and their (PayPal's) world is going to cave in. I really believe this.

I do not believe that their policies are all up & up. They should have the same protections as a credit card company, IMO.
