recommend Baneblade or shadowsword/stormlord kit? also leman

Post by whatsnext »

Looking to buy a baneblade or stormlord kit, which is the better model? I do not play but the models look good enough to want to mess around with.
Should i skip a baneblade and just buy 2 stromlord kits? or does the baneblade kit come with goodies not inclueded in the stormlord kit?

If i dont like it you can always get 40-50% of the money back or a neat trade.

Whats the difference in the new and old leman russ kits? The old plastic kit has a bulldozer type attachment on its front and the new ones do not have this on there box pics, do the new ones still come with this or just the old ones? Which looks better? Has better options?

Which leman kit is a better buy for ork tanks? I'm thinking the old one myself.

THANKS
Jacob

Hi there,

I will offer an opinion if you like. First, if you have the option to buy 2 kits, I would start with buying 1 Stormlord/Shadowsword kit and nothing else until you complete the building of it. The reason being that the kit makes 6 different variants of tanks as opposed to the two that the Baneblade kit makes. The only real difference in the variants that either kit offers is the main gun barrel choices. For the SL/SS kit, the Stormlord has the main upper turret positioned to the front of the chassis, and I think one of the other, less common variants does as well. So, if you decide you like the Stormlord, you could try to magnetize the gun and swap it for the other variant. If you went with the Shadowsword, you could also magnetize or socket fit the barrels and have 4 different tanks you could look at.

The Baneblade/Hellhammer differs from the above list in that the upper body is quite different. The difference in bits included is pretty much visible on the box front (main gun barrels, demolisher cannon, off-center turret upper chassis).

As for the Leman Russ question, I have no info. I have only ever owned the older type, and traded for them pre-assembled.
Always remember that your stuff is nearly worthless junk. The other person's items are highly valuable collectibles.

If I owe you a reference, please remind me.

I don't expect people to wait forever for an answer, and expect the same courtesy.

I been lookin at warseer and saw a post on page 2 of the general warhammer40k section. Looks like most preferr the baneblade, I think the shadow looks better.

The baneblade has the mortar thingy in its front and thats a little unrealist. The shadow has six versions i read over and over but they are only barrel length. I first thought they would be turrents in general(at least 2 aside the vulcan). So 2 turrents but looks alot better than the baneblade.

They leman russ demolisher looks way better than the battletank.

The shadowsword kit does have more options. It is more then just barrel length, it is also a mixture of tips and all too to represent different weapons. It is possible to magnetize so you can switch off. It's gotta be easy if I was able to do it. That means you would get more use out of it.
I would also go for the demolisher model. It has some of the weapons that are harder to convert. From the battle tank model, you can create the battle/vanquisher cannon with plastic tubing, and the twin autocannons can be made with converting 2 infantry ones. Again, use magnets.
Treat other members with the same dignity, respect and honesty you would like to be treated with.
