Regarding the camera, however... That is an important piece of the set up. YOu have to be able to take decent pics, if you want people to buy your stuff.

What kind of camera are you using?
Does it have a macro setting?

Eric

it's an old cannan digital...not sure of the pixels level. My Biggest problem is lighting. I guess I need to build a shadow box for picture taking.

Bluemeanie... that is really good looking.. I think you will have no worries getting some interest.

thx bud.

Like I said I'm already talking with one of your current adverts to apply for a chance to do some work for him. He is gonna send me a couple items to work on so he can see it up close and feel more comfortable. Which I'm completely fine with, and TBH if I just do that kind of work where my main things is just to paint and not having to worry about websites and negotiating prices I cool with that. :)

The models aren't bad, nor is the camera.

But your lighting and backgrounds need work.

The camera's good enough.
The problem isn't with the camera. It's with the photographer.
Nothing personal.

You need to elarn how to take better images & you'll do yourslf a bunch of good.

See if these help:

[EDITED] Fixed jumbled links.

...and you NEED a light box/tent:

The light box/tent is the most important, at this point.

I like the gree robes, too.
The kan needs more shading
Some of your images were too close up.
Generally, I like your shading techniques on almost all the models. Do you paint them? Paint wash? Ink wash? Dip? Other?

combo of Paint wash and paint. I put down my base color, and then paint wash it out to get my shading/low points. I then (depending on the model) will do concentric layers of highlights till I'm satisfied. e.g troops get less....characters/leaders get more.

The can is the one I noted that after I took the pic, I noticed a lot of stuff missing....some shading/highlighting. I was in a hurry with it trying to get ready for a battle and missed some stuff.

but it does have highlighting, jsut my bad picture taking :).

Thx for the links...Ill read up on those and work on my technique!!

Honestly, I think a light box will solve most of the problems.
Build yourself one of those and (if you don't have/use one already), get a tripod.

You'll be surprised how little you need to do if you have those 2 things.

I do.

I apologize for not replying to your question sooner. As it's well past my bedtime tonight, I'll re-read everything tomorrow and have an answer to you forthwith.

Also, Micromark sells a "studio in a box" for about $90 that has a light box, lights, backdrops, and a tripod. everything but the camera. I just picked one up and have yet to work with it.

I do.

Awesome :)

I will take a look at that studio in a box on the web. I also have picked up a bunch of dark felt and some big boxes and am going to try and make my own first. I really appreciate everyone's feedback on this :) It has been a huge help!!!

Followed instructions on the one link you posted Magic and it worked great. Took me all of 30 mins to finish which was perfect for a little break between painting for someone else :)

Now I just need Tri-pod...but so far I think it's a 100% difference.

I don't think you need a higher watt bulb. I think you need more lights to get rid of the shadows.
Great job so far, the pictures are a big improvement!
