So then you are admitting that the Iron Priest is NOT in base to base contact with the transport when he is embarked.

Okay.
In the case that a unit is embarked in a vehicle, the model is not in base to base contact with it. Being as the unit that the model represents is inside, however, the unit counts as being in base to base contact.

Actual base to base contact shouldn't be the imperative part here. If it is, though, that is easily rectified by placing the actual model on top of the take to represent which unit is embarked withing.

GW's FAQ sas it counts as in b2b, so that's good enough for me.

[tongue in cheek]
Well when I model my vehicles I actually ensure that ALL of my models actually fit INSIDE the vehicle, so they ARE actually base to base. The infantry models bases are standing on the base of the vehicle. Not off the table. So there!!!! >:P

I'm glad we can freely debate rules here ansd NOT get into heated arguments. Keep them coming Brian.

My argument was based off the ones I had heard in the past over on Dakka. The FAQ on the Iron Priest is sure to regenerate the argument.

As far as rules go, if it isn't a tournament setting, I usually go with RAI.

Personally, I would say that he could fix it. After all, if he is inside a vehicle he is in "base contact" unless he is standing on his hands or floating in an int- grav unit. true, theoretically speaking he could not fix the tracks if it is an outside deal. But then again, if he is outside, he could not fix the moters that make the tracks run. if he is standing at the rear of a land raider he could not reach to fix the heavy bolters on the front but he can "in game".
Sounds like a question you would best best off hammering out in your gaming group and having a vote on it amongst them so you can have an in-house precedent. Of course, for official tourneys and all, it is a good idea to contact the person running it to get an official "interpretation" before you start playing so you have a ready answer for any opponents who question you.
