I was wondering what everyone does in this situation;
Someone posts an ad of something I want, I sent them a PM with my offer, after a few days if I don't hear anything from them I assume they got a better deal and took it, no big deal, I use that money I would have used to chase other deals. But if they come back 4-5 days or even a week later and say "We got a deal" am I on the hook to still deal with them? Is it bad etiquette to say "hey man you took to long to get back to me I moved on"?
Just wondering how others handle this? Is there a cut off date for you on deals you offer?
How long do you wait for a response on a deal?

Re: How long do you wait for a response on a deal?
If I'm in a rush, I'll usually mention that if I don't hear from them in X days, my offer's off the table.
If you've moved on, you've moved on. A deal is not cemented until you have discussed shipping, addresses, etc. Just be nice about it.
However, in the future, I'd suggest some disclaimer so you're covered next time.

You make an offer, he accepts. Because he took so long to reply, I'd respond back with, sorry, you took a week to reply to I moved on.

In an official capacity, we're not going to hold it against you if it took the guy 4 or 5 days to get back with you. That means - typically - that he was waiting to see what offers came in and didn't have the decency to let you know... or took forever to double check what PMs were coming in... and that's worrisome in itself.
Don't stress it. Follow kturock's advice.
That said, Plarz's advice is solid, too.

48 hours...
Any longer than that to give a yes/no is wasting my time if im selling and i got folks waiting.
Any longer than that if i am buying!... raises flags and i move on...

It depends, usually a couple days, but I'll give them longer if the PM isn't marked as "read"
True, we love life, not because we are used to living but because we are used to loving. There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.
