How long to wait before BTR?

Post by wehrmacht »

Have a question about a non-communicating trade partner. We negotiated a trade and he insisted I send first, that was OK as he has a much higher rating. I sent my half of the trade, tracking said it was received at destination on Jan 21. I sent a message confirming, and asked for him to acknowledge receipt and LMK when he sent my half. This message was read by him but I haven't received a reply. I followed up on Thursday with another PM but this has not yet been read. I don't have his email address but he has mine.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

w.

Depending on who it is, or how high their rating, I wouldn't let it go much more than another day or two.

Reading PMs and not responding is unacceptable when your trade partner is waiting for their end.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

I agree with s_o_r_r_o_w. If he read your PM a week ago upon verifiable receipt of your end of the trade and still hasn't responded then I'd start thinking about a BTR if I was in your shoes. That said, I would NOT recommend giving him a negative ref without giving him some time to make good.

I've sent him another PM - he has until Friday to contact me, then BTR.

That's probably the right way to go.
He might've intended to respond, but got side tracked, then forgot.

Lower rating? You ship first.

I'd give it a 3 days to a week from "final notice".

He hasn't been on the site since the 22nd. So he has proabably not seen your messages. Check and see if they have been read, are they in your outbox still? If they are he hasn't read them.

Parcels sent to the UK take along time if they go surface? Did you send surface or air? Do you have a tracking number.

Do you have a phone number or email address?
He has still not been on the site to ACTUALLY READ any of your PMs.

You have not answered any of my questions in my previous post.

MM has offered to give you his email address. I would STRONGLY suggest that you take him up on his offer.

Norseman,

I'm having a hard time understanding your post here. The post you quoted is not one that has appeared in this thread. MM did not offer to give me the other trader's email address. You didn't make a previous post in this thread so I don't know why you're saying I didn't answer the questions you asked there. I didn't name the trader so I'm not sure how you would know if he has or hasn't been on the site, unless you're reading my PMs without me knowing it. My trading partner is in the USA, not the UK.

ANYWAY... since you asked, here is the chronology. I have all the saved PMs backing it up but as this is not a BTR thread I'm not posting them.

Jan 11: trade agreed, he asks me to ship first with confirmation and tracking. I say I will do.
Jan 12: I ship as agreed.
Jan 21: I am checking the USPS website and note that the parcel has been delivered.
Jan 21: I send this PM:

Hi XXXXXX,

Happened to look at the USPS website today and note that the parcel arrived :-D

I trust everything is in order and look forward to your confirming a tracking number for the XXXXXXXXX.

Cheers,

This message is in my SENT box so I know it has been read.

Jan 23: Trade partner's most recent (logged in) visit to the site.

Trade partner has my email address. Have not heard a word from him since Jan 11.

That is all.

My bad I confused this post with the one preceding it...

So now that I feel like a total heel...

Thanks for the info..

I would send him a final notice and demand a reply within a few days or a BTR would commence.

Again my apologies...Total Brain Fart
