couple of issues (formatting & email notifications)

Post by nitsky416 »

I'm not trying to sound critical, because I love these boards and have been around a while, but I noticed a few things as of late that bug me.

1) All PM titles and post titles in each forum list are showing up centered instead of left-justified. Makes it hard to read. [edit] OK randomly they aren't centered, but then when I viewed this post the text of the post was centered. This could be some sort of glitch in IE8, I'll try viewing everything in compatibility mode and see if that changes anything [/edit]

2) I received a PM this morning but didn't get a notification email about it. Aren't those supposed to be instant?

Might be on your end, as I haven't had any issues with this problem. I'm using Chrome.

I also haven't been getting e-mails sent. Not a big deal for me, but I think it started happening last night.

The above is definatly an Internet Explorer Issue - I use Firefox but when I have to use IE at work for what ever reason it will randomly set the text in the middle of the screen.
2) I received a PM this morning but didn't get a notification email about it. Aren't those supposed to be instant?
I have also noticed that I stopped getting email notifications - I will bring this up to the other staff members and have the admins look into it.

Thank you,

#1 has been around a while.
I'm in IE6 at work & IE7 at home... happens on both.

#2 has been brought up a couple times today. I haven't been home to check my email, so I don't know if it's happening to me. Might've been Adam fiddling with things.

I haven't gotten any either, and there should have been at least 3 sitting in there. Looks like a site issue is emerging.

No notifications for me, and about 10 PM's awaiting when I got curious and checked..

Erg. Wonder if this is related to Adam and the site speed update..

OT: Porkus, do we need to throw a party when you hit 1000 references?

Ironhide.. that would be nice.. if not that, cash is always welcome. I suspect I might hit 1K maybe around the time of the next 40k codex, so, gift idea!

ON Topic.. I got a dozen or so email notifications this morning while I logged in to the email I use.. looks like everything backed up from yesterday got sent at once..

anyone else?

(re: Email notification from bartertown.com)

Uhm - transmissions to Autobot headquarters are still being disrupted.

While it may very well be interference from that blasted Soundwave, I would ask if someone could keep looking into the issue?

I've gone into my user control panel and double checked my email address, and noticed that my username is showing up in the "confirm email address" box, instead of the email address that is in the line directly above - could this be part of the problem?

Hope this gets fixed at some point - right now I'm simply checking my btown account multiple times a day to keep current of any news or PMs.

On a side note - I'm amazed people are checking out my posting from several months ago. I'll try and get an updated posting up sometime soon (life has been hellish, but at least I have employment again of the part time sort - Yay!).

Tech info: Currently using a Windows machine, running XP, using Mozilla Firefox exclusively for web browsing.

Thanks!

It seems to be an "off again, on again" kinda thing. Maybe it happens when the site indexes. Also, if you PM box is full that will keep you from getting anything.

It appears to be fine with me since my last update, as I've gotten reply emails for this thread a couple times as well as private message notifications.

@Asif: if you changed your email address, you might have to activate it before you get any notifications (hence the 'confirm email address' message). I'll test it and check it out.

[j/k] Ironhide, how many times do I have to tell you to not get into headbutting contests with Grimlock? It always seems to dent up your IQ chip.[j/k]

Seriously, my inbox is only at 14%, with my other boxes at a similar capacity. I usually only keep ongoing discussions in my mail boxes, and delete successfully done deals once feedback is given.

As far as my email address, it's been fine for close on 14 years now at Btown, even after all the moves and server changes - haven't had issues with it before that I can recall.

AND - I've gotten emails from Bartertown.com for "Topic reply notifications" for this very topic, but I have NOT gotten email notification for the 2 PMs I've received today (Porkuslime and Nick Tompkins). How's that for arbitrarily weird?

Any help from the powers that be on getting my "email notification for Private Messages" fixed would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!
