bauser01: backout and/or lack of communication

Post by Scytale »

I ain't gonna make a long introduction. I have a lot of patience and understand that RL tends to kick people in the nuts sometimes and they have to back out. I've done that myself and others have done it to me, no biggie. It's exusable (in my book), as long as you get the feeling the other person is really sorry and has a good argument of why he's backing out. When someone's not responding to your PMs, after the trade is virtually completed, but you see he's reading them...that's seriously uncool. So here it goes:

Hey mate, I was just wondering if you'd be interested in selling Cygnar stuff too (or just trade) and if yes, would you be willing to split into smaller chunks and how much you'd want for 'em.

yeah selling is fine i am looking to bail on cygnar at the moment and usually 50% of retail plus shipping will do the ticket with me as some ofthe stuff is painted and would probably need stripped

let me know what you were tinking about picking up and we would work something out with whatever i have left

Yeah...you're a bit late mate. I've went through with several deals while you were replying and pretty much all I need now from you would be Ol'Rowdy and maybe a Sentinel, which sadly doesn't justify shipping prices. Some other time, eh? :)

Take care, S

actually i did some thinking and since i am getting rid of my cygnar i just really want them to go to someone who can use them so if you want ol'Rowdy and the sentinel and you can give me 50% retail for rowdy and shipping i will toss in the sentinel for free

just to let you know both are still in the package and unassembled

I'd actually give that some thought. around 25 bucks for Rowdy and about 15 for shipping...hmm..let me see if I need anything else from your list. :D

Ok, updated list. :D

I need Rowdy, sentinel and mechs.

My mate (I'll refer to him as mate no.1 for convinience) is interested in Haley, journeyman and Gunmages+UA, provided they're NIB or undercoated. Pretty much anything but painted really.

A second mate (mate no.2) would like a defender and a hunter.

How much would you want for the lot (considering I got you some extra business)? :p

Take care, S

Cool, fair nuff. For the picky dude, what's the condition of Haley, gun mages and journeyman?

Re: Cygnar stuff

Here are the prices I've come up with:

Journeyman: 9$
Gun mages: 28$
Mechs: 9$+8$ (i guess you have the chief and 3 of them buggers?)
Rowdy: 50$

So halved, it's 52 bucks. Sounds good?

Ok, sounds good. Because your rating is lower (and an absolute zero at that :D ), I'll have to ask you to ship first and I'll pay as soon as I get the stuff. I hope that's not a problem? My address is:

Tell you what, screw this complications. If you want, you can send me gobbers, Rowdy and sentinel for the price we agreed upon (8,5 for gobbers+25 for rowdy? (+ shipping obviously)) and that's that. Please write our agreed price as value on the box, mark it as 'other' (since..you can't really mark it as anything else) and I pay as soon as I get them, as per BT rules because you have a lower rating. My address is:

Tomaz Kovacic

Dear sir!

Since you didn't send me the shipping confirmation as you've said and it's been more then a week, I'll be backing out of this trade. I know you've been reading my PMs and could take a few seconds to reply at least with a 'yes' or 'no'. In case you did ship and couldn't bother to tell me about it like you said you will, I'll send the money to your paypal account (provided you'll take a few seconds to send it to me). I'm opening a new trade for the models I need and file a backout report against you, unless you respond to this in 24hrs and explain the situation.

S
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After I wrote the last post to him, I actually felt kindda bad but seeing it was read about an hour after I wrote it, and I didn't get a reply till now...I got really pissed off and decided I'll stay true to my word. Again, I'd let this all slip by with no one the wiser if mr. bauser01 would take a few seconds to compose a reply. I'm not perfect, no one is but....god damn.

S
A little something I noticed lately...people seem to put black paint over a painted model and sell it as 'primed'. The next time my brake fluid reveals my 'primed' model had several layers of paint on it, some genius will get a negative ref. Play fair blokes...

Lower rating ships/pays first and all the usual stuff.

And please, take those 3 seconds to reply to my PMs. A simple 'no' would do, anything more is always greatly appreciated.

The good thing is that you posted the complete information.

But only 24 hours "deadline" before hitting with a Neg for a backout?

Wow.

If he didn't see the message for 2 weeks, I'd think some crap is happening in his life and just let is slip by. As I've said, wouldn't be the first time. But since he was online and he did see all my messages (more then one over the space of at least 2 weeks I think), but couldn't take 20 seconds to come out with an explanation or a lie, it made me kindda angry. Granted, I haven't been here long and didn't complete 100+ trades but from what I understand, neutral's when someone's being sloppy (like with packaging) or backs out, when someone's buying more then he can handle or promises the same item to more then one person (again, sloppiness). What I belive is happening here is just bad attitude. Either he's 10 years old (no offence) or was just making empty promises for the things he didn't have in the first place (again, I may be wrong), don't know.

Again, I don't mind someone backing out of a trade. It happens, we've all probably done it. I know I have. But I had the human decency and good manners for PMing the person, tell him I messed up and appologised. Bauser01 is someone I wouldn't recomend to anyone and I've written that in the ''comments'' section next to the reference, where I also explained my decision. Trading over the internet with random blokes takes quite a lot of trust and well...you don't really want people like that around, eh?

I know you're pissed, but even then, I suggest to give a few business days warning before taking permanent action. Particularly before posting a Neg ref. At least you can be sure he's had time to think about it and act. Now that you've Neg'd him and driven him down to -18, what incentive does he have to continue here?

If I were you, I'd probably have stopped with the BTR/backout report. It gets the point across, and still leaves the possibility that he'll work with you to close the deal.

But as it currently stands, if I were him, I'd tell you to go pound sand.

OTOH, if he's just a major screwup, then none of this matters - he'd have been gone anyways.

FYI: bauser01 can't get a confirmation number for a package going out of the US. All he can provide is the customs form number.

My best guess is that he realized how much the shipping was going to be, and realized it wasn't in his best interest to do it. Something he should have looked into before he agreed to a trade.

That isn't quite true.

You can get international confirmation numbers, but they cost a ridiculous amount of money.

But, that makes no sense. Since:
and i can send you back what the spipping was plus the 52$
(ignore my typo) I'd cover all the shipping costs anyway. No need for him to back out because of that. And I guess you're right, I should have waited a bit more. I'll try to cool my temper next time. :)

Are you talking about USPS Global Express Guaranteed and Priority Mail International? The latter only offers tracking to major destinations, the former is ridiculously high priced. So you are right on the money there.

Yes, I am. The pricing is absolutely mind-boggling. Bonkers expensive. Interesting side note - a USPS international tracking number to a civilized country with proper tracking will be trackable via the destination country's tracking system.

Tho to be fair, the USPS prices are somewhat cheaper than UPS International or FedEx Global.

@Scytale: One thing you can keep in mind - you can take your time about posting the Neg - you don't need to post it immediately. You can sit on that Neg for a week before slapping the guy down.

If it were me, I'd have given a 72-hour deadline to reply and 2 or 3 business days to get a tracking number, and I'd have told the other guy that's how much time they've got. That's plenty enough time for somebody to formulate a rational reply back under pretty much any set of circumstances short of a death in the family.

Once that time passes, I'd put the BTR / Backout report up. And I'd PM & email them the link to let them know it's up, and I'm expecting a reply. Again, give another 72 hours for a reply, and 2 or 3 business days for the tracking number. This shows that I'm not screwing around, and that I'm going to follow Btown protocol, and that I'm going to follow through.

If *that* passes, well... all bets are off... tho I'd probably still wait 1 or 2 more days before slapping down the Neg. But with a minimum 6 full days and 4 business days, and additional reminders of the upcoming deadline, nobody can say that insufficient notice was given for the other guy to respond and/or make good on the deal.

The big difference is that I put a clock into my trades so that we both know when stuff is supposed to be mailed. This allows for a much tighter timeline on my end, if things go wrong. If you say that people mail within X days, and you reach X+1 days, then you have every right to inquire why the mailing is late. If you don't say, it's a lot harder to make as strong of a case, aside from responsiveness, which is where bauser01 is falling down big time.

For the record:

THERE IS NO BARTERTOWN RULE STATING SOMEONE WITH A LOWER RATING HAS TO RECEIVE/PAY SECOND, SHIP FIRST, ETC.

It really peeves me when people say "lower rating ships first per BT rules," perpetuate it as fact, and never bother to check and see if they're wrong.

Maybe folks should say Bartertown convention rather than rule.

Fair nuff. But I think it's a common consensus that that's just the way it is.

It's now another Sunday, 20th of December and still no word. Even the naysayers should be convinced by now...
