"Hexagon" and "Platformer" terrain

I recently picked up a huge box of terrain parts via eBay, and included in the lot were two large boxes of Hexagon and Platformer terrain kits. These are odd little kits that snap together using hexagonal fasteners, that seem to make them very modular.

Does anyone else own any of these? They seem a little small for 40K scale. What scale are they supposed to be?

I haven't got the free time to assemble a building right now, but how well does this stuff hold together with just the hex fasteners?

Google shows a lot of these kits availabel for dirt cheap, so it doens't looklike it's a rare or in-demand item. Are they worth building without glue, and do they hold up to tabletop play? Strong enough to hold say, a metal Hive Tyrant model or a Dreadnaught?

Yes, they are still in business . I have passed by them on ebay occasionally and tried to figure out a way I could use them. Let me know what you do find out as that may tipo the scales for me too .

They are supposed to be 28mm scale. Of course GW tends to be a bit bigger than 28mm.

How sturdy they are depends on how it's put together. If there is a good framework with lots of interconnected parts, they aren't too bad, but that uses up alot of your parts.

It's also hard to build anything very large unless you have several sets.

I find they are the most usefull for adding a sci-fi element to scratchbuilt terrain. Use the doors & hatches, make walkways, and just attach random panels to your terrain.

I love the Hexagon/Platformer systems. Here's a dice tower I made using one of the small Hexagon kits:

I've got a few sets but have never gotten around to making anything with them. Those pics up ^there^ are brilliant and give me ideas.

I was pondering using the industrial storage tanks in some Iron Kingdoms/Warmachine scenery, as they'd make great boilers or whatnot. I'll have to ponder this further...

All the sets are really useful. The only one I've found to be less so is the Power Plant, because it's designed in such a way that the possible configurations are very limited. The Chemical Plant is far more versatile.
