Are these things rare, and if so, what is the going rate for them?

Metal half-shell thingie? Kinda rare, yeah.. limited splash release a couple years back.. the only one in the gaming group I play with .. the owner got it for $50 and insists he got a deal..

Personally, I think a plastic ball from a ball-pit at chuck-e-cheese would work as well.. (cut in half)

Looked at feebay, didn't see any posted. I'm not looking for one, I'm looking for an idea of what to ask for mine.

Under completed auctions, an international seller sold one for about $8 and the shipping was was a little more than that. I had an extra one that I sold and everytime I checked ebay for prices, it was going for 10-20.

I was asking to see if you did a price check in completed auctions.

Sorry. I was mid-post when something I needed to do (stupid work!) came up, so I was in a rush.

Yeah, only one listed was the one govannon mentioned - international sale.

Hmmm... hey Creeper,

Can you tell me the diameter and height of that vortex grenade template?

Thanks,
Rick

It's a half sphere... so, I can tell you that the height (radius) is equal to half the diameter.
I never measured it, though.

That make more sense to me now Eric - thanks.

I was wondering if I could get away with using a flat template, like the large blast marker from some of the various sets; or if there was an actual size for the vortex blast radius (like you, I am at stupid work still!)

Measuring through the package, it is 2 7/8" or 7.3cm (eww, I feel icky using the metric system).

But wouldn't you much rather use the real thing - what with it being a hemisphere and all? Especially since I could use Tyranid objective stuff. :D :D

Actually, I think it does matter. Anything that the vortex douches goes bye-bye. So, if it scatters near some buildings that happen to have some steep overhangs and the top touches an overhang... it could matter.

That's how we dealt with it, anyway.

You mean that simple base 10 system that the REST of the world uses and laughs at anyone using an archaic over-complicated base 8 system that makes no sense? :-P
