K, board veterans, one last indulgent advice request please

I finally finished compiling my list of all the Warhammer Fantasy stuff I'm shedding (it's really very long). 40K, Armageddon, Battlefleet Gothic yet to go.

I'm addressing this question to those who have been around the board/community for a while. To the best of my knowledge, there are really only two organized venues for selling miniatures, Bartertwon and E-Bay. Not that I have really searched, just going by memory, let me know if I've overlooked something. Anyway, I was wondering if the veterans of the board could tell me, nowadays is Bartertown mainly a trading community, a buying/selling forum, or a more or less even mix of the two? My initial impulse is to run this stuff first on Bartertwon as it is a board of miniature fans (obviously) and you guys have the shared interest and use for them. But if Bartertown is now mostly a trading community, then is it the right venue?

Most of what I am about to dispose of is for sale, not trade. I'm looking to thin out my collection, not so much add to it. There is some stuff I'd be interested in for trade, but it's minimal. I'm still hanging on to my Dark Elves, Dark Eldar, Nids and Confrontation stuff, for now at least. But disposing of nearly everything else across the whole fantasy line so as I said, not looking for much in the way of trades. Nor am I looking, for the most part, to getting anything remotely near current retail. Not looking to start a business, just disposing of some of my stuff and hoping to recoup something to compensate for my compulsive collecting of earlier years.

Thanks for any input. I know I've asked several basic questions and I thank you for your patience. This should be the last noob question before I start putting some of this stuff up.

I personally use Btown as a trading site, but I have used it to buy and sell as well. You shouldn't have any issues selling stuff here.

I'd suggest you start on Btown and see what you can trade, then move to final sales on eBay.

I agree with John.
I find that the majority of business *I* do here is trading. Looking around, posts and references seem to support that.
That being said, there's no reason NOT to try to sell them here first, unless you're looking for a swift completion. Going to feebay will cost you listing fees, final value fees, etc. Selling here has no fee. If it can't move here, THEN go to feebay.

You said something important, though.
Nor am I looking, for the most part, to getting anything remotely near current retail. ...just disposing of some of my stuff and hoping to recoup something to compensate for my compulsive collecting of earlier years.
You seem to have reasonable expectations for your stuff. That's good. That kind of outlook is essential for receiving a good response to a SALES ad.

The other advice I'd give would be to list everything at once - the more people can see, the more stuff will move.

I have sold a TON of stuff here over the years- I think it's a good mix of traders and buyers. You will always get the occasional PM asking to trade, but if you stick to your guns and offer fair prices you should be able to move quite a bit here and post the remaining figs on Feebay. The key to Btown is bargain prices... (not saying Btowners are cheap- well, some are  ) Good luck!

Ebay is know as Feebay for good reason. You have to ask more for it just to cover you fees/costs they charge. You get no more real protection from them than you do here. They can't get your money back if there's a scam.
The good side to Ebay is more people know about it and look there for things, when they want to buy.

Everybody knows of Ebay, not every knows of b-twon [yet].
