Question on References

Just a quick question because it came up today. Is there a maximum "length" of the ITL page when you pull up references?

The reason I am asking is because there was a discussion with someone that questioned the amount of time I had been on Bartertown, so more than just the little timestamp over to the right, I was going to check my references just to see when the first one (on the current ITL) was left. On the page accessed by clicking on the number below my username, the earliest (or at the bottom of the page) was 2005.

However, doing a search for my last name (there are other's on here with my last name) I was able to come up with a reference from 2003.

Just curious if there was a reason.

Thanks.

Ahhh, there must be something like that. I just thought about it and checked someone else with 500+ rating. There's only goes back to 2005 as well.

When I clicked the # next to your user name, your oldest reference went back to July 2002.
When did you start on Bartertown?

Maybe because you are an admin, because when I check his refs it only shows back to 2005.

Maybe it has something to do with being an admin, because, like Govannon, I get 2005. Using my last name nets me the older refs.

Oldest one I saw was July 27th, 2005.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if there was a limit on the page size or something. MM's go back to 2002 and he is right at 300, so if he had 400, would his last reference shown be like 2004? Just curious.

They are all there for the looking, so really it doesn't matter. I guess I could go count the amount of references on Porkuslime that actually showed on the page and see if it added up to his full amount or if it cut off showing them after 200 refs or something. Like I said, just curiosity.

Check mine. When I click on them it goes back to 1996.

yes, but with only 150-160 actual refs (only!). I'm wondering if the page that you click from the number underneath your name only displays a certain amount of refs. Like the latest 200 are displayed is the question.

I know I was active on Bartertown before the 2003 mark, but I think that was at a time when I had a different username, and honestly I don't remember it. Don't everyone go freaking out that I have more than one account, I really don't anymore. And at that time...we didn't have as much trouble with riff raff trying to make a huge scam, or the Lost and the Banned trying to sneak back in.

Damn, I wonder if it was IronWarrior8 or something...doesn't matter. Been a long time....

If I'm not mistaken, refs were on by email, and not a forum name.
and there wasn't any places for comments and such. Just basiclly a place to list the ref and good/bad/neutral.

yep, I seem to remember that as well. I have no idea what my email was then. I started in NC, and have been in Tx for the last 8 years.

On a total S.W.A.G., I found 4 more refs under an old email from my NC days. I know I had several more, but I think I must have had a different email. Like I said, not a huge deal now, but at least I can put that I have been receiving refs since 96.

Weird that I can go back farther as an Admin.
I can't think of any reason why it should matter.

@ Stanislav... If memory serves, wasn't your previous User Name "the Black Gobbo" or something similar, which you got a (quite rare) special permission to change (or, more specifically, to have the Admins at the time change)?

Eric,

Yes it was Black Gobbo at one time. It's been Stanislav for quite a while now. I think all of the Black Gobbo ones were converted to new refs (or switched to the newer username).
