How do you handle the value of quasi-OOP models?

Quasi-OOP models defined as metal models that arent made anymore, because they have now plastic ones as replacements?

So marine scouts, metal terminators-loyalist and chaos, Cadians, Catachans?

I recently had the "pleasure" of trying to deal with someone, fortunately not here, who insisted his 10 metal chaos terminators were worth $162.50 since thats what they are on GW site. No pointing out that thats 1.5 times the amount of plastic ones, nor that I can buy them NIB for $9-$10 each.

Frankly I cant see valuing something that much more for the metal item then its plastic equvilant. Is it just me?

Wow, he wanted a bit for them eh.

Here's my view on it..
If they are still on GW site I'll look at that price and take 20-50% off depending on condition. But I do the same with new plastic miniatures as well.

I don't really look at it as okay they now have a plastic edition of the mini in question so the metal one is worth less then 50% of it's original price(just an example,not saying that that's your view). There are times when I do prefer semi out of print metal models over plastics(not many but a few)

Near the end of the termionators life in blisters in metal, the MSRP was $12 per. They had been $10 per for a while.

*shrug* I dont think I'm was unreasonable thinking their perhaps equivlant plastic value max, I know people want to get value for their items, but I'm not going to ever overpay. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I like metal over plastic. However, considering I just won 2 ebay auctions for 6 terminators for $25 and 7 for $27.50, I really didnt like them for $150+ much.

I can value a rock at what ever I want and ask that for it.Doesn't mean you have to pay it.Say no and move on.If he is a jerk about it ,move on faster

Considering I think plastics are the equal of so much $@^&,I would value metals higher.You, and many, don't care if it is plastic or metal.That's fine.We probably couldn't come to a agreement on a trade then.Oh well.Tell me good luck and say No.

In the case of Terminators, they're $50 for 5, so I'd value them at $10 each, or $100 for 10. If he insists on an excessive valuation, then walk away. If you're willing to pay it, that's up to you. The value is whatever you both agree on.

In my case, if he wants a super-high price for his stuff, I'll want a similarly high price for mine, so things should come out even again.

Oh I did walk away, It wasnt worth it, especially trying to undervalue mine....
