POSTING EDITING PROBLEMS

Ok I just ran into a new problem, when posting or editing any messages or ads.
When I type anything that would be scrolled down, anything below the 1st pane of the post, it scrolls back up, so the cursor and text isn't viewable. When I hit enter, it doesn't always move down 1 line, it sometimes only moves over as a space.
I'm using IE 8 and don't recall if it started before the upgrade to that or not.

I also belong to another board that uses phpBB and I don't recall if I have the problem there.
I'll try posting there and see if it happens also.

EDIT to see if it hapens here.

PENDING

HMM AND THERE IT GOES..DOH caps lock was on.
when I hit a key it pops down of a second to see the letter or character. but all i can see is from the "i also belong', to the 2 "pending in color and now it's scrolled down to the caps lock mistake.

hmmm. when i manually scroll down, it stays there fountil I hit any keys.

I use IE 8 also. And I think it didn't start happening for me until I got the latest upgrade.
Any ideas?

It's probably IE 8.

LOL Serves you guys right for being test dummies for it. ; )

I use IE 6 at work, and IE 7 at home. I don't have either of those problems.

Anyone having these problems and NOT using IE 8?

Eric

IE 8 came up on the automatic updates as being a critical update for both Vista and XP.
It wasn't listed as being beta, well any more than all windows is beta.

That's the problem with Windows... Any new release is going to be chock full of flaws. I'll give IE 8 about 9 months before I even THINK about upgrading.

I would have also, but I thought it was out for awhile, and since it was listed as a critcal update and not a suggested update, as they usually are, I upgraded.

I'll see about rolling it back to IE7.

I had that problem for the longest time with IE8 until I did one thing. I set the browser to automaticall run in compatibility mode.

Basically IE 8 is designed to work with a certain style of web coding, my guess is the upcomming push towards IPv6. The compatibilty mode allows IE 8 to run with the older web codes.

Ok. I just switched it to copatibility mode, let's test it out.

the rest of this will be random typing, rambling, copy and pasting and link editing.

Ok, so far so good.

EDIT: yes that seems to take care of the problem.
Thanks.

If you have IE 8, you should have a compatibilty selection in your tools pulldown. Just enable "Compatibily View" OR just to the right of the address bar should be a little icon that looks like a ripped document, before your renew and stop buttons.

That will also activate compatibilty for that page.

Thanks! I kept checking the Internet Options on the toolbar.
It works like a charm now. I was about ready to throw my monitor around earlier. :-x

No problem. I've made it a "chore" to make sure my vista runs near flawlessly. After a few option settings, I've not found anything wrong with vista other than some annoyance factors. (and lack of some drivers, but that is a product problem, not a Microsoft problem)
