Trading Online, and what you can do if you get ripped.

Hi guys;

New to the forum, a vet in online trading/selling/buying.

A couple pointers I generally follow;

1.) When a deal is too good to be true, it usually is. Use some common sense. "Would I sell it for this low?"

2.) Check feeback when possible. I've worked without feedback systems, and you generally need to be very observant in order to have any suspicions arise.. save everything until both parties have recieved!

3.) Don't be an ass and commit to something, and back out of it. That's most irritating. This does not hold true if you can prove without a shadow of a doubt they are looking to rip you off. Sometimes it's hard to find a buyer to get rid of whatever you are selling.. as most know, it sucks to get your hopes up and get let down. :(

Anywho, in case you do get ripped, and yes this is considered Fraud.. it's a crime, and you CAN do time.. for such a tiny amount of money it's not worth it. If they were worth millions.. eh, different story. :P

Contact your local police station. They in turn will contact the other party's police station and advise you of what you can do. Print any relevant emails, PM's, IM conversations etc.. save them!

Fill this out is one option, this will open an investigation.

Here is another form you can fill out.

You can also walk into your local post office and fill out a form.

There is even a toll-free number that you can call to obtain help!
