So I'm fairly new to Btown, only been around since the turn of the new year, but I do have to say that I've very much enjoyed my experience thus far, and have already had several good trades. That being said, as a newcomer, I'm obviously struggling to get a respectable trader rating. However, I've had two instances where a trade, which was very enjoyable and completed without any problems, ended with me not getting any feedback, even though I left feedback myself. Obviously, I'm not going to whine and demand my feedback rating gets bumped, but I thought I'd ask some of the more experienced btowners if they've encountered this, and have any advice on how to avoid it from happening? The step I've taken is to say up front that I will leave feedback if the trade is good, and ask the same in return, but, really, that doesn't actually DO anything.

I usually give it a couple of days - because most folks have 'real' lives. If I haven't received feedback by then I send a friendly reminder PM/Email and ask if there was a problem & if so how I can fix it so that the reference can be left.

So far this has worked in every instants I have had to use it (which has only been a couple of them).

Most times it slips the other traders mind or that 'real' life gets in the way.

Another thing I am going to start doing when I'm trading with someone I haven't traded with before is use the following disclaimer that I am stealing from Karl. (Aphundeal{sp?})

This came from a recent trade we worked.

Good advice above, with the OBVIOUS exception of bluemeenie.

I also suggest that if, after 3 reminders, you don't get your deserved ref, put them on your personal DNT list (Do Not Trade) and move on. If I got every pos ref I'm owed, I'd be at about 300, now.

On a more negative note, I STILL have THREE references that haven't been left for me. The one is SIX MONTHS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes you can't get another trader to leave you a reference. Even when you have done everything you can.
As Eric (our King of Verbosity) said, put them on a DNT list and try to forget it.

Personally, I keep hounding mine. Just cause it's fun.

Good luck and keep up the positive trading and soon you will find that you are doing great on this site. On the whole, you couldn't meet up with nicer trade partners.

There really isn't much you can do to get a Ref from someone who doesn't wanna give one except to bug them with reminders,sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't,I think everyones had some refs not posted that should have been posted.
There was some talk at one time about getting one feedback point until you have left a ref for the other trader,then you get the 2,maybe the Mods can enlighten us on that?

I wan't Staff at the time this was discussed but, from what I know now... I personally don't expect to ever see it. it's a lot of labor intensive coding involved with the ITL, and i can't imagine how tough it might be to do THAT.


Also, we have Adam's "Honey do" list a mile long already. LOL
