What to do about BT advertising store that doesnt send items

Hey BT,
I wanted to know how to go about letting people know about one of our stores that sells on the site. I bought a bunch of stuff off them(not on BT) and am getting no where. To date I have waited a week for no return calls, emails or tracking info and its been 3 weeks since I paid them.
Now I know I bought the items off them, off BT site however I bought from them due to them being on this site. Do we do bad traders on companys that link to BT and pay for advertising?
thanks

yes you can put a bad trader report on a company that advertises on btown, the Drop zone come to mind, however since the deal wasn't done on btown i'm not sure you can report them here, but i would contact an admin and tell them the story and go from there.
Cheers

Don't think that matters. After all, what about Painter3467(sp?)? He got several BTRs and not all of those deals started on here.
I'd send a PM to MagickalMemories about this.

Looking at the Rules,it does say the trade must have been atleast started on btown,so i guess no you can't post a BTR,but i would definitely contact an Admin however.

If they advertise on here and that is why you bought from them, then I would say it did start on here and
I think you can leave a BTR.

Send a PM to MM or Porkuslime before you do anything

It seems to me, if someone advertises on Btown, and then a Btowner follows the link to buy on their store, they are entitled to open a BTR on that store.
Claiming that it's not Btown is like claiming that a purchase is Western Union, because that's where the money actually changes hands. It's a sham.
The fact of the matter is that the purchase never would have happened if Btown didn't accept the advertising. And BTRs serve a purpose of letting people know whether BTown's advertisers are legit.
Also, this should apply to auctions - it's not an eBay auction no more than it's a PayPal issue. It's a Btown issue, so let people open the BTRs.

If thats the case then i agree,i was under the impression that Btown was not used for the deal, that the dealer also advertises on btown, but linked to other sites which btown only happened to be one of many.
eg,he was on Warseer and clicked on there banner(knowing they were also on btown)to buy merchandise
cheers

Magically after posting here a tracking number was provided. Maybe I should have asked this a week ago instead of calling and talking to the guy everyday for a week lol. Far as I can tell the package was shipped so I guess this might end well after all.
thanks for the info guys

Painter6479 was able to recieve BTR's from people who had found that site from Bartertown, However we had to get permission, and it was only after finding out the alot of indidviduals here were "abandonded" were we able to. Permission was given to post about them about the same time legal action was started against them.

To my knowledge, and MM can refute this if he wants, but if the person finds the advertiser on here he may start a BTR on them.
That being said, I would recommend all people making deals with our advertisers to initially contact them through a PM on here, and then take it to private e-mails. Otherwise it could dissolve into a "he said, she said" type argument. With a properly worded PM, the user would have irrefutable proof.

Seconded.
And in the initial private e-mail, reference the Btown PM.
That makes it ironclad to justify BTF if things go bad.

Not necessary to refute.
If you FIND them on BTown, and CAN PROVE IT (like, your first email says, "Hey. I saw your banner on Bartertown, and..."), then you're good to go.
...of course, even if the guy HAS ripped you off, but can prove you LIED about finding him here in your BTR, you'll get booted, too. [[Just so nobody thinks there's an easy way to scam that prerequisite]]
This was not always the case. It used to be that it had to be a sale or trade initiated by a BTown post, excluding many of our advertisers. The issue with Painter6479 brought about this change.
Having covered that, I do have ONE problem with this post. It casts a negative light on ALL of our advertisers, as it is unknown WHO it was (and, NO, I don't want you to name them, outside of a BTR).
As a result, this thread will NOT stay here. Once resolved, I'm going to move it to a hidden forum (I will NOT delete it), as it is too generic to be of assistance to anyone and can only increase suspicion (unfairly) of ALL of our advertisers.
Merdain, PLEASE contact me once your merchandise has been received satisfactorially.
Thanks.
Eric

Eric:
I recommend against "hiding" this post. The information is good, and should stay up.
IMO, it's no worse than asking a similar question about some unnamed Btowner, which casts similar questions over the site as a whole.
If it's a feedback issue, I see no reason why advertisers shouldn't have ITL feedback just like anyone else on the site. That alone would go a long way towards helping potential customers assess whether they want to procure services or goods from any of the advertisers.
But burying this thread doesn't work for me at all. You can't pretend that TDZ, Painter, and other former Btown advertisers didn't drop the ball.

Nobody is pretending that those people "didn't happen," John. Check the BTR forum.
To someone who is untrusting, this thread potentially says, "One of the current advertisers might be scamming me. You guess which one. That means that there is a 1 in 15 chance that this guy will do this to you too, if you use these advertisers. "
This is a great deal different than if he said, "There's a 1 in 15,000+ chance that this trader will try this with you, too."
Now, if you narrow it down to ONLY stores (since he DID say "one of our stores that sells on the site"), it drops to 1 in 6. That means 5 - 14 people are being unfairly stigmatized.
That is unfairly bad for every one of the advertisers, except ONE.
Nobody is unfairly protected by putting this post in a Mod only forum, as nobody is named in it. It's not protecting anyone who's done anything wrong. Plus, being in the Mod forum, the post is kept accessible, in case we (staff) ever need to got to it again.
There is no "good" information in this thread that isn't available anyplace else on the site. When the decision to allow negative ref's for advertisers was made, it WAS posted publicly. I wasn't even staff at that time, as I recall, so there's no way I'd have known about it unless it was. This was back when Painter6479 had his big collapse.
