it's almost a year since someone (februaury) has posted an unjust reference, that resulted in a bann, how long should I have to wait until I it is removed from my record?

How long would you wait untill -10 was removed from yours without making too much noise?

What are you talking about? The only bad ref you have is from July 2006.

Then on that note, I'd suggest PMing a friendly reminder to Lin and Adam.

I think he has PM'ed Lin and Adam on several occasions.
I am a little surprised that Adam didn't take care of this. For the amount of coverage the idea of retaliatory bad references get, I would expect this problem to have been solved. Yes, I would be a little upset by now.

I know Adam is busy. But I remember when I needed my references put together from various emails, Adam took care of it within 4-5 days of me PMing him.

Did you upset somebody, Kevin? ;)

And Ironhide, you couldn't have proved the point about having colors on Negatives and Neutrals any better...

Of course the counter argument to the colors is, "I don't like the colors! *waaahh* People can now see the bad things I did! *waaahh*"

I've begun to lobby the other mods and admin to get Bartertown a programmer so we can get stuff done here (no offense to Adam, but yes, he is busy).

Judging by the lack of response I've received thus far, however, I'm not holding my breath.

I get that he is busy but it's almost been a year so I don't have my hopes up. It's a little upsetting to think that when unjust stuff like this happens it's not taken care of.

BTW I do think colors would be great!

While there are a great many things I can do on the site, changing the ITL isn't one of them. All I can do is remind Adam until he does it, which is why I advise people who PM me about it to contact Adam directly and poke him occasionally.

Unfortunately, that can take a while. I talked to Adam the other day - maybe I should be calling him on a more regular basis, but he is very busy at work right now. Without going into specifics, he is in charge of several projects with Very Large dollar values and he's swamped. I had advised him of several site issues, and I've sent him a follow-up private message to that effect. I think the fact of the matter is that we have him for brief periods, between which he's busy with his own real life stuff.

Sid, with regards to your petition and with apologies for bringing the discussion into a public forum...but the person from whom you need buy-in is Adam. He's the one holding the proverbial keys to the kingdom. Hopefully he'll be chiming in soon and we can reach a consensus on where to go from here.

For what it's worth, I have considerable experience. as a Systems Engineer of Web-enabled / Database-driven systems, and can probably help with some of the maintenance programming / database cleanup if that is desirable.

I suspect that there are other programmer types on Btown who could be leveraged to maintain the ITL as open-source code.

There probably are a lot of people on here who could help out, the trick is finding someone you trust to maintain the system as Lin wants it without them trying to incorporate their own opinions on how ITL should be handled. Unfortunatley, as a general rule, the internet gives too much aninymaty to build that level of trust.

Oh, I know which way the wind is blowing, I know. :P

That's why I brought it up to you guys; some of you have a direct line to him and I am a big fan of utilizing the 'chain of command.'

As an established Btowner with a pristine 100+ rating over nearly 3 years, impeccable e-commerce rating off-site, and over a decade of experience leading complex software development teams, I like to think think I'd be a decent choice. My trade record demonstrates some level of trustworthiness, and my time on Btown demonstrates some commitment to the site. But really, the primary issue I see with ITL ties to process.

As for opinions and personal preferences, there are limited roles for each in the development any system. The key is having a clear process for understanding and coming to consensus so that development can move forward.

Sounds like something a scammer would say.
