I am looking for people's opinions on how to resolve a situation that I am experiencing.

Situation:
I conducted a trade with another user. I received his side. On October 20th, he PM'd me saying he had received my package, but there were 3 FW bits missing (2 star engines and a crystal targetiong matrix). I asked/ told him to recheck the package and let him know where I had packed them in the package. I did not hear one way or the other, and assumed no news was good news.

The ITL went back up, I left FB and sent a reminder to the other trader to post FB. November 24th, 30+ days later, I received a PM from the other trader saying OK to leave FB, but that there were parts missing from the Wave Serpent kit that was also in the trade.

My opinion:
For what it's worth, I'm of the opinion that any and all missing parts should have been brought to my attention immediately. Additionally, if he was unable to find the intitial "missing parts", he should have told me that they were still MIA.

I admit that I am not perfect and I do make mistakes. I have been on the receiving end of packages missing bits and in those cases, I notified the other trader immediately of anything and everything that was missing. In this case though, I took extra care to ensure I had added everything because it was an unassembled kit off the sprue. I confirmed it piece by piece with the directions (included in the trade) and reconfirmed off a kit still on sprue.

Finally, the latest PM says the Wave Serpent is missing 3 parts, but there is no mention of the FW star engines or crystal targeting matrix, the initial missing parts. While this doesn't prove anything, it makes me wonder, Did he find the FW bits and somehow lose the WS bits over the last 30+ days?

My question:
How would you guys go about resolving the "missing parts"?
Should I be held accountable for "missing parts" 30+ days after the package was received and inventoried?

No follow up with you about missing part...
Changing his story about what parts missing...

Sounds fishy to me.
Unless he was a well established trader with good refs, I would not be inclined to do much about these "missing parts".

Whilst it is alittle odd that you would not be contacted about missing parts,its still your responsiblity for them,I've had this happen to myself aswell....i got a trade...didn't really know about the box set and assumed everything was in there,only to find out once i traded it,that parts were missing,i made up for the missing parts by paypaling the other trader cash.
Having said that, it is really odd that he wouldn't contact you again when it comes to FW parts,but who knows maybe he was waiting to hear from you.
If you believe your trade partner and i assume you do,then there your responsiblity to repace them or make up for there loss somehow

If you KNOW that you checked them twice and they were in there then I would confront him about it and let the chips fall where they may. You have a good rep around here and this just sounds fishy to me. I'm not accusing anybody of anything but if it looks like a fish and smells like a fish...

Either the parts were shipped, or they weren't.

So the question is whether you confirmed that they were received in good condition.

I usually force confirmation of receipt in good condition from my trade partner as soon as the USPS / UPS posts delivery was complete.

First off, if they are missing from the actual GW kit, then he needs to contact GW about the missing bits (unless it was opened already... but he could STILL try).

Rule #15: Statute of Limitations (added 6/27/2006)
It has come to our attention that people are filing negative feedbacks, complaining about negative feedbacks, trying to appeal feedback, and other such things months after the fact. As we have better things to do than sort through "he said, she said" with no corrolary evidence we are imposing a statute of limitations on complaints and appeals. Please note this does NOT apply to properly submitted Bad Trader Reports.
You now have thirty (30) calendar days after a feedback has been posted on the ITL to appeal or complain about it.

Now, I know this is about ref's and not directly about trading. What it does for ME, however, is set a precedence. It makes me think you should address the issue with Linrandir and see if he agrees with us.

They guy gave you a list of missing stuff. You specifically said they were there & told them WHERE they were packed (impressive, BTW). You didn't hear from him again about missing bits.
You send him a ref reminder and, now, he has MORE missing bits. IMO, he should have addressed them in his initial contact in order for them to be applicable. He's had the model in his possession for a month, now. They could have come off anywhere.

Update:

I received a positive reference.
My trade partner also notified me that he did find the FW bits and accepted that it was "possible" the Wave Serpent bits could have been lost to the warp in the last 30+ days that he had the package.

I consider the matter complete and based on the Feedback received, feel confident that both parties are satisfied.

I remembered that I packed all of the tiny bits together in a plastic container so nothing would fall out of the bubble wrap.

You could take picture of everything you ship, just so you have a visual reference of what you packed. Just an idea to everyone.
