Reference issue?

Was just checking my references.
Seems that everyone that has left me a reference has a reference rating of (2972).
Now, I know that these were good guys and all, and I gave them postive references, but I didn't know my word carried -that- much weight!
Am i mis-reading something or is this a small nagging bug?
By the way, when you click on their (2972) it pulls you to the reference "search" page.
