WANTED: mini case ideas for large Ravenwing force

Looking for input on what some of you other Ravenwing players are using for mini cases.
I have a rather large Ravenwing force: 30 bikes, 6 attack bikes, 8 speeders, Sammael.
Have an old metal typhoon and Sammael is pretty delicate. My bikes all have at least the skull post mounted to the back aswell.
I was using a Rubbermaid tote with eggshel foam but with Sammael having that cape and outstreched arm I don't want to chance lying him on his side.
Looking for cheap mode of storage. All my other armies live in tackle boxes. (heck 20 bucks is alot cheaper than any mini case out there) No cardboard boxes, must be weatherproof as my minis are stored in my hobby room next to my furace room with a very large hot water heater. Can't always get a close parking spot at tourneys in the rain and snow, etc.

Thanks for your input.
Brad

PLastic tub, metal sheeting, magnets.

Glue magnets to the bottoms of all of your bases.
Go to Wal-mart and buy a rectangular tub (you can get them clear and translucent, so you can tell which army it is [for when you have more than one]). These come with lids.
Go to a Home Depot type store and get some thin metal sheeting... Like they use for duct work.

Trim the metal sheet to fit the inside bottom of the box. Use Gorilla glue (or something similar) to adhere to sheet to the bottom.
Stick your models to the sheet metal and GO!

I have a friend who uses this method almost exclusively. I haven't decided whether or not I'll do it myself, but i *have* started magnetizing my model bases, just in case.

too bad you couldn't get the sheet magnetized I like to glue nickles to the bottom of all my open bases.
That's interesting but seems kind labour intensive compared to getting a regular army foam case and hacking the crap out of it. Besides I'de still have to buy a load of magnets and level out all the bases for regular table play.
Any more ideas floating around out there.....

http://www.foamorder.com/packing.html

Order whatever size you need to fill the plastic tub.

Hobby knife out sections for the models.

Actually I work for a seat manufacturer and make foam at work. We have some really nice foam saws aswell.
Was kinda in the mood for a smaller multi-tray affair.

Well, crap.

Kep the TUB idea. Fill it with foam "trays" of your own creation, instead.

I don't know how you're going to deal with smaller multi-trays. You have Sammael, not exactly a small model. You've said you have the skull poles glued onto your Ravenwing as well. Face it, whatever route you go with is going to be large.

The metal sheeting is probably the best way to go. Even with your nickels, you can still magnetize. Use the strip style magnet that has a sticky backing on one side, trim it to fit the whole bottom of the base, then glue it to the bottom of the base and the nickel. The magnet now becomes a "base" for your base.

Many fantasy armies are done this way for movement trays.

I have some minis like that. My friend that magnetizes uses that option solely.

I don't think the OP's going to be up for it, though, as it is FAR MORE labor intensive than my initial idea and he thought it sounded too labor intensive.

Well... Something like that, anyway.

You can lead a horse to water,
But you can't make him THINK.

No.
That's not a horse... That's a party line follower of any breed

Edited for truthfulness.
