Army Sales

Question about selling whole armies. I was considering selling mine (not totally sure yet, its just a thought at this point). I have chaos mortals, it winds up being around 5K I think. I have some customized models, mostly 5th and 6th edition models, and a few new ones. The army itself is pretty balanced for composition. Do people on bartertown often buy out right armies? How much should I be looking to sell off retail? How long would I be looking at to physically sell it?
Right now I am just trying to trade half for daemons, which I am a little more partial too, but I seem to be having no luck with that.

Honestly. No.
Armies do NOT tend to do well here.
Smaller ones have a reasonable chance, depending on certain factors. Generally, though, armies as big as yours tend to fizzle if they're not parted out.
Here are a list of things that will make a sale/trade less likely on BTown:
1) Poorly Painted
2) Painted in a unique color scheme
3) Poorly assembled
4) Crappy conversions
5) Too big and unwilling to break up the lot
6) Not putting images IN your ad
7) Valuing them too highly & not being willing to bend on pricing
That's about all I can think of off hand.
If you're selling it as a lot, you'll do better on ebay. Even then, however, you'll do better to break it up into smaller lots.
As far as pricing for BTown... It depends on factors 1 - 4 above. Anywhere from 80% retail down to 50% retail. You'll have a hard time getting 80% retail on assembled models, though, as people can get them at most online retailers for that.

All I can say is, "God help the next person who posts in the "almost free bits" thread that needs something I have and says they have photoshop skills."
I have a copy of the original gif, with unaltered faces, and one awesome idea.

Dancing Godzilla Kidz.
Love the blue/white vomit.
Not so much on the clown faces. Clowns are scary.
I think I will miss "Darth Eric".
Oh, {getting back on topic}, Jordan it does seem to be harder to sell whole armies then to sell in smaller lots.
Actually, it is probably harder to sell anything. Trading is where it's at usually.
{looks at wristwatch, waits for next "post horror" post...}

New question based on the above post. Since trading part of my army for daemons was the idea, and I have had no luck so far, here are my options. There is a guy on warseer that wants to trade CSM with me, and its a pretty good deal. Do I wait for my beloved daemons (ability for fantasy and 40k), or do I trade now?
I also had the idea that maybe waiting for the new mortals book to come out in november might increase the chance of my ability to trade...although some of my stuff is 5th edition (I don't mind it, but I understand why people want newer models). I just noticed when I joined it was around the time daemons came out...and it was nuts on here.

Right now Demons are the "hot" army wait a while till the SM codex coms out and you might get better deals or offers on a Demon army.
If you are unsure about the trade for the CSM army you can do a few things.
1. Ask for a complete description, which models are "converted", painted, assembled, ect...
2. Get Photos, unless it is a NIB, or Assembled little/no primer, you have to be happy with the paint job or be tasked with the stripping so you like the army.
Lastly this is one bit of advice i give to everyone asking "which army" as a general pointer
Visual has alot to do on if you like an army. If you like the way the army looks (I'm not talking paint job, though that helps) you have a less chance of liking to play the army.
There are lots of necron players in my area that simply do not play their Necrons. Win or loose most of them play their "second" army usually SM or Tyanids.
If you simply want to play, then go ahead with the deal. It cannot hurt and you get your gaming action in untill such time that you can afford your demon army on your terms.
