It would depend on the event organizers if you're asking about tournaments. I know they haven't been allowed for at least a year in GW-sanctioned events. In friendly games it's up to your opponent...

In general most of the alternative lists are no longer leagal. Any list from a Campaign book (Eye of Terror, Armaggeddon, ect) This also includes most lists from any white dwarf or any Imperial armor lists.
But as stated, you should check with the event sponsors to see if they will allow it.
I'm personally peaved as I had a fairly large Ulthwe Strike force. Now I have to add more units to make this once again effective as certain aspects of my army got "reduced" So I play them in Apoc games.

I play pure AC 100% of the time and I use the Imperial Armor list. Its a very nice list. In my opinion quite flexible and balanced.
It is legal for free play and is up to the organizer for tournies. I played in a RT recently.
I dont use the WD list as I think it is illegal outside of open play and its crap anyway.
If you decide to play armor be prepared for lots of cheese cries from "those guys." You know, the ones that play marines and nothing else because of their handicap. There is a guy locally that wont play me because I tabled him once and he basically took an old school style SM list and lined up against my tanks...
Ive noticed playing AC is the same as any other list. If you play a good player you have a challenge ahead of you. If you play a noob or someone who refuses to try outside of army building then you will likely win. There is quite a bit of strategy to menouvering and placing your tanks, both to create and angle your firing lanes as well as your enemies. Its a taste you never get with the 3 max leman russ vanilla guard list.
Anyway, thats probably a lot more than you wanted to know so Ill hush

Where is the IA list other than that WD article? Is it actually in IA1? I have that smaller IA and IA2 books, the soft cover ones, but not the big bo honking hard cover ones.
Is that the list that you use? I didn't think they had a force organization slotin the IA book

A site filled with blabbering nonsense ran by autistic monkeys is a site that's run better than GWUS's site
Thanks for the info

Yup, he's talking about the FW hard cover IA:1
It's got an armory and list for an Armored Battle Group. It allows you to make a Mech Infantry, Armored Company or a combination of the two based on your HQ selections as well as rules for Air support.

Carlo here dude... AC came out after the IG codex .their legality in terms of GW sanctioned tourney's and GT's,GD's is well and over , but there are still legal lists like SW-13th company.LATD and LOTD is all gone due to the new codices that came out from CSM. The tournaments done on game stores(GW-Dealers) its up to the choice of the store owner, store judge or event organizer if they would allow Armageddona nd EOT armylists.
A good news maybe steve is a new IG Codex maybe in the works and its rumored the tanks will be in squadrons which is pretty much like the AC company maybe even flyers .Sadly Baneblade will never be standard in IG.
anyway steve hope it works.
