Bad Trader Delima -Need Opinions

Im normally a pretty easy going guy. I was working on a deal and we had agreed to ship and I was expecting my package to go out to me and had started boxing things up. The individual msged me on IM and said hey I had a personal crisis come up I'm not thinking about 40k anymore, lets cancel this deal, I'm still interested but let me deal with this crisis etc.

Now I understand personal problems and family things that come up so no problem.

When I have a problem is when I see the same ad posted up again exactly as before, a week later. No contact with me and my messages are ignored at this point. That kind of miffs me off. I wouldnt have even had a problem with backing out of the deal, but it seems like I was lied to and I do not appreciate that at all. So that being said.. File the bad trader report for backing out on the deal? Or let the next guy get screwed by the same ad?

That's kind of a personal decision there.

Assuming you've given all of the pertinent facts, I'd say to send the guy a PM.

Maybe he's taken care of that crisis, but accidentally deleted your PM's/emails.

Give him the opportunity for the same trade. If he declines, then that makes it look as if he was just backing out because he changed his mind.

I'd PM him, then decide from there.

I might not have been clear, I have PM as well as Instant Messaged multiple times and have been ignored, since the reposting.

Looking back at it, it looks like you were clear enough... it seems I just missed that part.

I'd place a message IN his trade thread about trying to contact him re: the trade and needing a response.

I'd also send a PM titled: "1 week to respond. Last chance."
(Alter the amount of time as you see fit).

In the PM, I'd advise him that I would like a response re: previous PM's about your trade.

IMO, if he doesn't respond - or tries to feed a line of BS - I'd file the BTR.

That is what *I* would do.

You're welcome.

...and I prefer the dancing Leonidae, myself. It's all in the faces for me. Well, MOSTLY, anyway!

Not trying to cause a problem here or anything, I personally feel the OP is well within his rights to file a BTR, and I've recently done so myself.

My question is about the posting with deadlines and such: is that inviting complaints of feedback Intimidation?

I was thinking the same thing. You have to be careful not to get in trouble yourself. Also, I don't think I would personally post in his trade thread to contact you, since that would very likely be considered threadjacking. If he doesn't answer your PMs, and a week after he told you he had to put everything on hold he has the same post up trying to trade his stuff, I say slap him with a bad trade reference. If it was months down the line, it would be one thing, but a week just means he decided (after the deal was made) that he no longer liked the deal and is trying to get another one.
Regardless, just be sure not to do anything that will get you in trouble too.

I agree. I believe he's within his rights, as well. My suggestions were a "one last shot" kind of thing, for the benefit of the doubt.

Re: ITL Intimidation. Not so. I'll detail in my response below.

Notice that, at no time, did I suggest a "warning" that a negative ref was imminent. The "last chance" was in reference to it being the last chance to respond to PM's. I would never advise to threaten or even WARN about the possibility of a neg ref to follow... wrongly worded and YOU end up the one in trouble with the Admins. You're exactly right about not doing that.

I don't see a problem with posting in the trade thread. The post would be in direct reference to a trade for the items he has listed in that thread. It's quite on topic.
I don't see any worries there.

Words of wisdom SO GOOD that they deserved to be quoted again, in the same post:

LOL... nice...

You may want to check out this thread from a while ago. It talked about how to get someone to respond to you without breaking any ITL intimidation rules.

Good luck.

Good luck.

Good call on that link, CIG.

...and as for the "Chubby topless guy..."
He left "chubby" behind a couple hundred pounds ago.
The guy in that image most definitely qualifies as fat (screw political corectness -- fat people are allowed to point out when someone else is fat. It comes with the oversized pants).

... and the link never got me in trouble. It DID, however, eventually get me a polite... umm... request from Lin. <G>

Back on track, though...
The thread in that link really does have some good info in it for you.
