Ork shopping list (NOT an army list)

Okay, folks... it'll be a little while until I do this, but I'm trying to get ready in advance.
My next army will be Orks. When I "collect" an army, I simply save my $$ until I have enough, then buy everything I want and need at once, then start assembling/comverting.

I don't have the codex, so I can't (yet) build a balanced army, then go from there, as I normally would. At this point, I'm just listing the stuff I WANT and not necessarily what I NEED. That's why I'm asking for opinions. I don't know all the NEED pieces, necessarily.

With that in mind, understand that I don't plan on always fielding everything here but, on occasion, each item WILL see play.
Please, tell me if I've left off any essentials. Price doesn't matter, as I'll get it all 25 - 30% off... except Forgeworld. I'm not buying Forgeworld items right now.

Let me start by saying that I don't know what I'm going to do about Battlewagons yet. Land Raider conversions aside, I just cannot think of anything I want to convert... and I'm not exactly jumping at the idea of using a LR, either.

Here's the list:

Bomb Squigs (4) - 2 Blisters (Just because I want 'em)
Grot Oiler - 2 blisters (for Grot riggers... I like the model)
WARHAMMER Orc Warboss box - 1 box) Will be converted to be 40k. Warboss on boar will "count as" a bike & the other will be the "on foot" version
WARHAMMER Black Orcs box (conversion for Nobs, in case I need extras)
Ork Battleforce -3 boxes- This will give me 3 Trukks, 9 Warbikers and 60 Boys. (Will that be enough Trukks? Keep reading.)
-----------If it's too many bikes, that's fine. I'll use them for Deffkopta conversions (more below)
Ork Boyz box (might get older box for more Orks... don't know) -2 boxes (Yes, that makes 100 boys, now... some will be used for the extra army in the Burna/Loota boxes)
Big mek
Big mek with bosspole
(I will convert one with a shokk attack gun, if I decide I want one. I'm not too fond of the GW one)
Ork Wierdboy
Ork Lootas & Burnas box - 2 boxes
Ork Tank Bustas box - 2 boxes

(these next 5 are because I WANT them.. I don't know if they're a necessity)
Ork Lobba (I will convert more if I need them)
[b]Ork Zapp Gun (I will convert more if I need them)
Ork Kannon [/b](I will convert more if I need them)

Eldar Wraithlord (will be an Ork Dread conversion)
Space Marine Dread (will be an Ork Dread conversion)
Maybe a third walker from a different army? Nothing metal, though!

So, do I need any IG or SM tanks to loot? Is the new looted tank that good? I haven't heard anything that great about it, except that you aren't looking specific tanks any more... they, basically, all count as the same tank.

I will have (I don't know how many) Ork Deff Koptas. They will be converted from resin castings of my own creation combined with Ork boys bits, plasticard, plastic rod & tubes and brass rod & tubes.

So, what have I forgotten?

Remember... as long as it's not Forgeworld, I'm open to listen to all suggestions. My group plays 2500 points, most often. It won't hurt to have TOO MUCH stuff. Better than than too LITTLE.

My own preference, based on 3rd ed Ork codex (so this may be changing)..

I love Killa Kans.. armed with Scorchas and a power claw thing. There is no "to hit" roll.. and you have to get em close, so they might as well charge in with the rest of an army.. I field 3 (or plan to when I get em)

the other unit other than Burna (which I love for the same reason as scorchas) is Kommandos. Inflitrating guys with big choppas that can leap out and get stuck in pronto.. I just love the mental image of Orks bein' sneaky gitz..

If I were you I'd try to get some of the last WFB box set Orcs that came 8 to a sprue. I have a ton of them and I used some to convert them into 40K Boyz and they look really nice. They give some variety and they are pretty easy to trade for. I think 3 Truks will be enough but it depends on your list. I'm doing "Speed Freaks" type lists so ALL of my ghuys are in Truks, Wagons or Bikes.
With what you have listed you certainly can make most of the troop types in the new codex. You will be short a Battlewagon, Stormboyz and Grots but it looks like you have most of the other stuff covered. As for the Looted Wagon my verdict is still out. I don't play enough to be able to say how good it is in the game but on paper it looks toned down from the old stuff. The gun seems underpowered to me and if you give it the big gun option it can't transport troops. I'm picking up the new IA Apoc book t osee if they have gun wagons in it, they are more expensive but a better option in my opinion.
Finally, if you want to trade for anything let me know before you go shopping, I have pretty much extra stuff.

Stormboys & grots... Gotcha.

I know I need grots, but I get the impression that they're not AS good in this codex. I'm waiting until I get the 'dex to make my decision on them.

Stormboys will likely be conversions, too.

I'm not worried about the Battlewagon. I got a WASTED Forgeworld Shadowsword a while back in a trade... well, about HALF of one, anyway. When I heard there was a new ork codex AND Apocalypse coming out around the same time, I decided to convert it & sell it. Well, now that I'm playing Orks, I'm keeping it. It'll be my Battle wagon in regular games & I'll use it as a shadowsword in Apocalypse.

Here are a couple images. Note that it's a bit farther along now. I haven't touched it in a while, though. I'm waiting until I have my Chaos built up.

That looks pretty cool! I love that about the Orks, you can take prety much anything and slap some plates or whatever on it and Ork it out. I'm trying to get the pieces together to do a Stompa right now.

Storm boyz Storm boyz Storm boyz... They are the strongest thing in there. You might want to get one more trukk or a couple of the older ones on the cheap.. you can only toss 12 models in em so to make propa assaulty mobs you need a handfull of them, remember they are open topped and kareen and stuff now so they are really fun. Also any footsloggers need to be in massive groups so they have enough dakka and big shooties.

Oh.. Deff Koptas.. for zany goodness you might want to invest in them.

The Lootas are possibly the most evil thing ever to unleash on an enemy.. So many s7 shots (even with low bs) is nice.
