J B Weld on metal minis?

has anyone tried using J B Weld on minis? i brought a mordor lord of the rings metal troll mini to work. i was drilling it to pin it and 1 of the other mechanics asked what i was doing. i told him, and he asked why i didn't use j b weld, instead of drilling and pinning. i know it works on other metals, but i'm concerned it might adversely affect the pewter/lead mix of most modern minis.
the local r/c hobby store sells it. i guess they have usees for it. i know the local home improvement store sells it also, for less.
has anyone tried it yet?
thoughts?

There's a guy in my area who has used it, I don't believe he had any problems with adversely affecting his minis. The only thing I, personally, would be concerned about would be how hard it might be to clean off if you need to strip the minis you use it on.

hmmm... i guess that once it's on, you wouldn't want to dis-assemble the figure. probably wouldn't be able to either..

That's been my experience. It takes a bit to set, but as you know once it does you're just *not* getting it off ever.

So if it's something that might see a lot of action, then by all means JB weld it. Otherwise...I wouldn't. ;)

To be honest I dont see why it would be better than plain superglue for plastics. Its thick, a paint to mix, and its like green stuff, you can never mix the right amount.

For plastic on metal though, that might be worth trying. I don't know what it would do to plastic, but I imagine it wouldnt hurt. Test it on some sprue.

i've had super glue come apart, and some miis, have been reglued several times. some are too small to pin, while other were pinned.

I have used it on all metal minis before, but only large ones that are heavy and like to fall apart under the weight of super glue and even pinning. I put one of the old marauder giants together with it and have had no problems. I have dropped it many times and nothing has happened to it. I never tried plastic.

thanks all. i stopped on the way home tonight and bought the 4 minute vesrion.
i'll post the results.

i wish i knew of jb weld 20 years ago. i had vermatrax?, the dragon from dragonslayer. the soulder joints fell apart even under epoxy. the shear weight of the arms caused them to come off the body when i tried super glue.
