I need a little help from those mroe experinced than me, if i was going to ship a largish (army size) package from UK -> USA what would be the cheapest way to do it? with time not being a major concern.

In the US i use the local post office. UPS or FEDEX is more expensive for me to ship. I'd try them first and look at the "major" carriers 2nd. Whatever air parcel post is over there would be your least expensive yet not too slow option.

You'll have to check you "post office" over there first, and actually give them a call.

www.usps.com has the rates for international shipping, so that might help you in figuring out the costs.
