I recently sold a large 40k army (mostly metal) and the buyer used Paypal. Upon receiving said army, the buyer was unhappy with the condition of some of the figs (missing tabs, stripped figs, etc...) I agreed to refund in full, but here is where it gets sticky... the buyer has a 0 rating and I am a little gun-shy about refunding the cash without the figs in hand. How would you guys handle this? Am I just being paranoid? We are talking about 350.00 worth of figs just to give you a better idea...

I'd wait until you got the figures back.
Problem is since it was through paypal, the other person could dispute the transfer and attempt to get their money back anyway.

But as it is through paypal, good chances are they wont due to him getting the models.
I've heard numerous stories of folks who payed via paypal, got a partial order and are stuck....

Wait till you recieve the minis back. The buyer should also pay for shipping and DC#.
Did he ask for pics and/or ask for conditions before buying?

Well I did say "attempt". Meaning the act of hassling you until you want to strangle them.

bby all means, wait until you have the figs in hand before a refund.
the 250 difference in your ratings warrants that, at the bare minimum.
just a honest comment

Dude
i have been in that place before so much hassel in sending money back and recieving the figs. sometimes the figs are'nt the same anynmore when they arrive. Thats why i exert all effort to send pics whats he's getting so i wont hear complaints later.
Hope your figs gets returned and newbies are so hard to work with sometimes.Hard to predict .
Party on dude
Cheers

Thats a sticky situation, man. Good luck, but I wouldnt refund him until you get your figs back. In his shoes, I would be understanding of your position, I mean... there is a rating system for a reason. But then again, not everyone out there is as naive as I am... so yeah... good luck man. Ill say a prayer for you.

just like a retail store, no $$ back until item is in hand. if you buy something online, the give you a refund, even if on a charge card, only after they have teh item in hand.

No minis, no refund.
make him send tham (and take inventory) before refunding.
PayPal will be on YOUR side on this. essentially, they only care that he got something. If you sent HALF of what he asked for, they'd call it a PARTIAL order and their refund policy doesn't cover that.

Thanks for the reply guys... looks like the deal is in Paypal's court now since the buyer filed a claim (not as described dispute) My funds are locked until I receive the figs back- at that point, who knows what will happen? Looks like my hands are tied as the buyer will not accept a partial refund on the damaged/unacceptable figs only. Sounds to me like he just changed his mind and wants his money back. But like I said, it looks like I have no choice... Oh well... anyone want to buy a SLIGHTLY used SOB army? ;0) Live and learn...

just as an added thought if you had to absorb any paypal fees from his purchase dont send the full amount back send the amount you received
no sense in you losing money because "he" changed his mind
thats why i hate paypal to begin with but thats another thread
