broken forum

Why are there buttons at the top of the forum "live chat" and "warhammer40k.com" that don't go anywhere?

lol yeah.
Easy answer? They are too much of a hassle to remove.
I'm sure Plarz can get into the programming jumble for an exact reason why.

That's about the size of it.
Many years ago, we had a chat room. It was probably never used by more than 3 to 4 people at a time. Phpbb software updated, and it was a huge hassle for the owner (our sole tech guy at the time) to update the code to allow something that was barely used. So, he never bothered. The tab is a huge PITA to remove, though.
The Warhammer40K.com site USED to be a 40K discussion site owned by one of our Admin. We shared a User database in that, if you could log into one site, you could log into the other. It's long shuttered, though.
