Trade Issue/ Need Help

Hi there,

I just recently attempted my first trade on Barter town with another user (not sure if i should point fingers yet), and at first everything was awesome; good references, fair trade, good communication. Myself having the lower trading score, shipped first. I tracked my package to his house, and it was received. He has not been on bartertown since, and I cannot send him a PM because his account no longer seems to exist? I'm feeling very distraught as it was a moderate size trade ($200), and am unsure what my next steps are. Best case scenario he has sent the package to me and has stopped communicating with me, worst case it looks like I was scammed. Looking for any help anyone can offer.

How long has it been? If it's more than a week, I'd post a Bad Trader Report Right Now.

When you say "The account no longer exists" What do you mean? If they have not signed on, the PMs will stay unread in your inbox. This isn't beacue the account doesn't exist, it's because they haven't been read yet

Also keep in mind that if he is in the US, travel times are a bear for mail.

Travel times vary...but Priority Mail is still reasonably 3-4 days in the CONUS (we are not THAT deep into the Xmas season yet) and one HOPES he got Delivery Confirmation.

If you try and send him a PM and it says "The requested users to be added do not exist." then he might have deleted his account, if it does not come up with that error and the message is sitting in your outbox then he hasn't read the message yet.

Now, if he in fact doesn't exist any more (you checked your spelling, tried searching him through the "check reference" tab, etc) then I would file a BTR right away. I would also PM a mod/admin to see what steps they can do to help you out.

This is not the case. Users are unable to delete their own accounts and, if they ever request that WE delete it, the most we'll do for them is put it on the ban list. We do not, however, delete them.

It almost HAS to be a spelling issue.

@OP

Instead of starting a new message to him, "Reply" to a message he sent you previously. If you cannot find one because you deleted them (which you should NEVER do until a trade is successfully completed), you can try looking in your "Sent" folder. That is where PMs you send move to after the user reads them. With a 3000 message capacity, it's unlikely that they'll be gone.
