One week with no communication after payment - response?

Hey BT,

I'm loving the site so far, but unfortunately one of my first purchases is making me worried.

I entered into an agreement with a user last Monday, sending payment in the early afternoon. That day, he was very communicative - 12 or so PMs back and forth. Then, I sent money via PayPal, and he hasn't responded since.

In one of the last PMs, he said he'd get it in the mail later that night or the day after. I believe he's located in Orlando, and I'm in NY, and no package yet. Whatever, that can be slow postmen.

However, he hasn't responded to any messages since I've sent him payment. He logged on last Thursday, but he hasn't looked at any of the messages I've sent him asking for an update. He has a rating of 44, so I'm hoping this is just an issue of personal life jumping up and getting in the way, but a week seems like a long time to go incommunicado when you have several hundred of my dollars. I've tried getting in touch with him via the e-mail he gave me for PayPal, but no response.

Am I worrying too much? Should I give it another week? Or what should I do at this point?

Thanks BT!

Seems worthy of investigation. PM a staffer with the relevant information, such as the user's name, and maybe the PM string.

Lines of communication re-established. So hopefully problem solved!

Follow the above advice, anyway. I'm making no accusations against your partner, but that is not an unknown stall tactic by scammers.

Oh, definitely. I have all the PMs in a Word doc in chronological order, and I already contacted a staffer about it. I always put a note on Google calendar for the last day to contest a PayPal charge, as well, whenever I make a large purchase.

So I've been in contact with the other trader, and he's admitted that he used the money I sent him for other purposes, and he'll "have more soon to ship out my goods." It's been two weeks now; I sent him a PM on Saturday saying that I needed tracking info by Monday night or I'd escalate the PayPal claim and file a BTR. He responded that he'd send it out soon. Earlier in our communications, he said he would get paid on the 2nd, so I figured I'd extend the deadline until today.

Has it been enough time for me to post a BTR? I'm not sure where the line is.

I would say that a BTR is just about in order. If he doesnt make the deadline of today then for sure I would post one in your place.

Just remember to read the rules of posting a BTR before doing so. Just to make sure you dont mess up and get scolded or have to redo it several times. Its happened quite a few users lately that werent paying attention to the rules.
