Cannot post PM

Post by Phorge »

Hi, I'm new here, found something that interests me, but it turns out, I can't send a PM. Help, please.

You are a new member.. it takes a little while to get approved to use PMs.

Sending you one now...
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

Thanks, everything working now. It's just that it was weird: FAQ suggested contacting board admins - but how? I couldn't send anyone a PM...

Instead of starting another new topic, may I get cleared also? I can also start a new thread if you like.

Once you make ONE post that's approved (it's a tool to combat the myriad spammers we've received these last few months), you'll be clear to post PM's. So, if you start a new thread (even one down in the discussion area, just to say "Hi.") and wait for it to be approved, you'll be good to go.

I find it discouraging that I need moderator approval to post.

Really? I mean really now. When do I arrive at a point where I can post freely?

Just until your first post gets approved.
We know it's a PITA for our new members, and we're truly sorry about that... but all of our staff are unpaid volunteers. Recently, we've been removing dozens and dozens of spam posts, and it takes up a LOT of our time.

Our security measures were able to beat out the bots during registration, but "real people" doing the registering can *think,* so they can get past them. By doing this, we ensure that those spammers who get through our security measures for JOINING the site still can't post.

We just started this measure about two weeks ago and, believe me, it's helped. The only spam that gets in now is from accounts that were created prior to when we started that security measure, and we're weeding those out. Soon, we should be totally spam-free.
