How long should I wait to contact Pay Pal / File a BTR?

Hello Bartertown. I recently went into a trade with an individual and after a few PM's discussing price, shipping, and who went first we came to an agreement on a trade and I paid him through PayPal. Since the payment went through I've only gotten 1 PM saying he'll notify me when it ships. It's been a week now and I haven't heard anything from him, and have sent one PM which was finally read the other morning, but not responded to. What steps should I take and when to secure my money back and make sure this guy is properly reported?

paypal has a 30 day time limit..send him asking for an answer when he's going to ship, or you'll contact paypal. give him a couple days, no more than 10 days since he received payment. and please say you didn't mark it as a gift.
if no reply, file.

Unless it's changed, PayPal gives you 45 days to file.
That said, I otherwise agree 100% with kturock. Hmm. I take that back. I am even more conservative than him I think. Ten days since the payment was made, or seven days from his last response on the PayPal claim. Whichever is SHORTER.
You can also try a private "name and shame" to an Admin. If it's a regular trader, we may know him well enough to help you out and keep it from having to get to a BTR.

Unfortunately it's a newer trader like myself. I read a thread a little late on a safe way to conduct a trade with two low ref traders and am now regretting not doing a little more research and getting a few more pieces of information from the seller before I plunged into this trade.

If you send an Admin what you DO have, you'd be surprised what we can make of it.
