Shipping first, buyer pays shipping issue.. Please help

Hey, I just got items from a trader. Because he was fairly new to the site, I had him ship first before I paid. The package was some medals, which were small and light enough to ship via first class.... Because he was paying to ship first, I wouldn't expect him to pay more than he had to.. Now I get the items, and it was shipped via priority, which although may not seem like a huge difference, it ends up making it more than I expected and wanting to pay.
Should I dispute the total with the person I made the deal with? Should I just eat it? Should I just pay as if it was first class, and see what happens? Or what?
Please, give me your opinion!

What did you agree to, exactly?
Did you say that you would pay shipping and not specify? If so, i think you need to eat it.

If you specified First class and he sent priority I'm of the opinion then that he should refund you the difference.

Accepting your summary of the agreement, I'm in agreement with imp--you should calculate the cost of First Class, err on the side of generosity on any rounding, and add that to the agreed total for the items themselves.
But be open with the sender in your communications.

Priority is 1st class when it's over a certain weight. I beleive it's 13 ounces. At 13.1 ounces it must got either Priority Mail or Parcel Post.
How much does it weigh? He might not have had a choice.

4-5? have you weighed it? if so, then yes, it's between you and him on postage.
There are several different size flat rate envelopes. Prices range from $5.15-5.30.
