Due to my own stupidity I got cheated...worth a neutral?

So I made a mistake here. I had up for trade a starter set, some minis, and a Malifaux rulebook. I sent him my PP Email and he sent payment. I shipped out the items, but it turned our shipping was going to be a bit more expensive then I had intened as the auction also included the rulebook causing shipping to be more expensive.

I asked him to cover the extra as he was indeed getting a 15 dollar rulebook and his resposne was akin to "tough luck sucker." Given that we did not have a meeting of the minds would I be right to leave him a neutral feedback?

If you agreed on say $100 for items + $15 shipping, then it turned out shipping was $25- you are out of luck. You should NOT leave a neutral. Absolutely not. You agreed to terms. He has no obligation to pay more because you misjudged what shipping would be. What part of the bargain did he not keep?

I dont know your exact wording of the deal. But if you are shipping first, you might want to say - $100 for the items and exact shipping costs. That would cover you a bit better.

Dude you screwed up.
You admitted it.
Would you ask for more $ if you found out the items were worth more than you quoted?

He deserves a Good ref. You, he could easily give a neutral.

By you just posting here, it brings doubts/concerns/reservations about you.
Will he change his mind after the deal and want more? Especially to traders with lower refs. Would you hold their minis hostage because you quoted the wrong price and demand more?

I've been in your situation before. In one of my earliest trades, I traded a bunch of AD&D stuff for some bases. At the time, I didn't know that the guy I was trading with was the manufacturer. I traded @ his MSRP for my "want" prices. My shipping was almost $30 and his was almost non-existant.
I did not ask him to trade me more items or make up any difference in shipping. I ate it and chalked it up to an expensive lesson learned. You should, too.

Your trade partner doesn't deserve anything less than a positive, unless he was an a-hole in his response to your asking for more $. At the VERY worst, it would deserve a neutral, but his response would have to have been pretty insulting for me to even think that.

@Beowulfdahunter:

Hey man, I've made that mistake before. It's the kind of snake that bites you once! Twice if you're a slow learner. :mrgreen:

Previous posters are correct. I haven't read the "rules" in some years, but - if memory serves - a neutral feedback rating only applies to situations where you were promised 'X' and it came back as '-X'. So, you promised me unpainted minis, and - come to find out - some of the minis were painted - horribly, gunked up with glue, broken, etc. etc. Basically - NOT what you promised AND you weren't willing to compensate me for the 'mis-advertisement'. That's what I remember a 'neutral' rating applying to.

I'm an idiot - I can't tell you how many times I've "mis-judged" the shipping - but that's MY FAULT. I never ask the buyer to compensate me for my laziness, lack-of-knowledge, miscalculated info, etc.

I know it hurts man, I really do, but you can't ask the buyer to compensate your mistake. The fact that he was an a$$ about it - well - just know that's the kind of person he is. If he had any character at all he would have said, "Hey man, I feel ya - but I upheld my end of the transaction, please don't make me pay for your miscalculation."

Hang in there, bud, you'll get it! We're behind you wanting to be a good trader, and it speaks volumes of your character to make yourself vulnerable here - and ask for guidance!! :mrgreen: You're a good egg man, don't give up! 8)
