Searching would be greatly improved if we could have a field for 'HAVES' and a field for 'WANTS'.

Right now searching will return both and if you want unit X you are still having to wade through tons and tons of posts.

Doing this would require all users to somehow differentiate the haves and wants within their posts, and do so mechanically to the server.

In essence, we would have to re-write the forum software such that each post had two text boxes, one for haves and the other for wants. These would then have to be stored separately in order for the search function to look in only the one you want. While that would be spiffy, it requires intensive modifications to the board, as well as successful operation by the user, and unfortunately, that can't be counted upon. It would also destroy any and all customization the user would want to their post.

You're stuck with the system as-is. Sorry!

You can try to use Google's search engine to help you though, just add "site:www.bartertown.com" to the end of your search query. That will restrict Google's searches to what is within the forum, and that may help you.
