Sent payment but received nothing yet

Post by cal483647 »

How's it going fellow barterers. As the title states I have sent payment via paypal after an agreement was settled 17 days ago and 7 days later he appologized, said he sent the package and would have a tracking number for me soon. He never got back to me with a DC but we didn't agree to him purchasing one so it was pretty much just thrown in if he did decide to get it I suppose. So I waited 9 days before I sent him a brief PM asking if he knew when the delivery date would be and I know he saw the message shortly thereafter because the unread status from the outbox went away. I've waited over a full day and no response yet but I have just sent him another PM a few minutes ago to see if he responds to this one. I'm getting a bit antsy as 17 days from payment sent and waiting 10 days from when he said he sent the package seems a bit long. I'm fairly new to the site so I just wanted to know how to follow this through. I don't want to wait too much longer since I believe I've read somewhere that barterers can't dispute something if a deal has lapsed over a month from which an agreement was made. Please help me out, I'm quite concerned since a bit of money was involved thank you.

I'd file a dispute with paypal.

I'd also put up a BTR report following the rules and guidelines in these two links viewtopic.php?f=34&t=71 and viewtopic.php?f=34&t=103202

If it's a domestic shipment it seems a bit excessive. if international then not necessarily. Though his lack of communications is a bit poor by any standards.

Agreed.
if it turns out to be an honest mistake/error, then all of those complaints/reports can be closed or canceled.

Just remember to NEVER cancel a PayPal complaint until AFTER you get what you're supposed to. Once you cancel them, you may NOT reopen them.

thank you both for your help. I'm going to give it another day for him to respond since the first inquiry before I go ahead and file a dispute and btr. I just would feel really bad if it did happen to arrive today or the next given day which I believe would put parcel posts at its maximum estimated time if he did decide to ship it that way. Thank you again for the help and I greatly appreciate it.

Ok so I still haven't received anything yet and no responses to my PM's. I feel bad about doing this since he only has a history of good references but I went ahead and filed a dispute with paypal but don't know if I should escalate it to a claim. Also, for a btr what would be the best or easiest way to going about posting PM's from my inbox in chronological order (copy and paste?). It makes me kind of sick that this is actually happening to me since 300 is a steep number to drop on models at once for models as a college student and I believe that from what I've heard paypal isn't going to do squat. The worst part is that payal is my last resort pretty much since the funds weren't drawn from my credit card but directly from my bank account so I can't even call my card company and believe that my bank would just tell me that it's paypals problem.

I have opened a Word document and just copied and pasted the whole PM string into that, adding in appriopirate quote tags and making sure to include the headers for each message.

Once I have the whole thing the way I like it.. I open a blank PM and copy it there and "preview" it.. so I can make sure how it looks before I commit to the BTR forum (as you cannot edit within that forum)..
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

The BEST way to create a chronological BTR:

Go to one of the PM's in your PM string.
"Reply" to it.

Under the "Reply" window, there's a window that shows the entire history of your conversation. Go to the oldest one and hit the "quote" button in that window. That will copy it to your "reply" window in 'quote' tags.
Scroll up to the next one up and do that again.
Continue in this way until you've quoted ALL of the messages.

Then, copy ALL of them and paste them into a word doc or noteboox txt file (this is so you don't accidentally lose them).

Go to the BTR section, open a new BTR, type in your title, they "copy/paste" the thread from your doc or txt file.

Bingo. You're done.

I could be blind, but if this is not stickied anywhere, this is the best description of how to do a BTR. Please keep in mind, I could be blind.
