hey guys,
just finished a project and wanting to get some feed back on it. the idea is a fast skimmer, open top design to transport a squad of gretchin into the thick of it. mainly just for fun could be good to tie up a dread or heavy weapon team, or take objectives. so heres the run down so far.

type: open top skimmer
stats: bs:2 front:11 side:11 rear:10
weapons: two, twin-link big shoota
special rules: scout
options: may up grade big shootas to
twin link rokkit luncha + 10points
skorcha + 10 points
grot riggers +5

Transport:
18 gretchin w/1runtherd

what do you think would be a good point cost? looking though the codex and compareing points to other vehicles i quessing somewhere around 60-70 base points. ?????

This is a really neat idea, and I love the execution of the model! However, I just have one little question... Would an open-topped gretchin vehicle that has the scout rule really have armour greater than 10 all around? I know you want it to be somewhat competitive, but the thing that makes orks awesome is the high risk/high reward aspect. Maybe if you took the armour down to 10 all around, you would be able to price it closer to 60 than 70. Love it, but I just think it needs that little tweak!

Well, I realize that the base model (Deff Kopta) has an Ork pilot, but no self respecting Ork would fly a transport for Grots.
"I aint no filthy grot shoffur!"

So, for "fluff" purposes, you should have a grot driver. That would be more appropriate.
This would up your BS to 3, of course.
I also agree that you should be AV10 all around. If it's good enough for Da Boyz, it's MORE THAN good enough for grots.
Is it a dedicated transport or Fast Attack choice?
It should have a rule that keeps Boyz from using it. Maybe the blades should be lowered, so that any ork in it would be decapitated?
The only Ork in it should be your Runt Herd. Also, the transport capacity should be 20, with Runt Herders taking up 2 slots & grots taking up 1. Eighteen is just too unusual a number.
Also, 2 TL Big Shootas is too much base weaponry. It's a transport for Grots, not a weapons platform. IMO, make it 1 "TLBS" with the ability to add a second weapon.

I'd say something like this:
type: open top skimmer, fast
stats: bs:3 front:10 side:10 rear:10
weapons: twin-link big shoota
special rules: scout
options:
May add 1 of the following weapons:
Twin Linked Big Shoota + 15 points
twin link rokkit launcha +15 points
skorcha + 10 points
May also add:
grot riggers +5

Transport Capacity: 20 grots

*Vehicle may only transport Grots
*Only 1 non-grot may embark on the vehicle. It must be a Runt Herd and counts as 2 models for calculating capacity.
Points: 70
The points may seem high, but remember that you're introducing a vehicle whose only purpose for existence is to transport a large squad of CHEAP models (even by Orky standards) someplace important, and to get them there FAST.

Just my take on what the vehicle should be to keep it relatively traditional.

Keep in mind, however, that I'm dead-set against a transport option specifically for Grots - even if it's in a Fast Support slot. They're not important enough to the Waaagh to have vehicles made that only they can use.
"A self-respektin' Mek would be buildin' trukks an' wotnots fer Da Boyz, cuz dey is proppa waaaghriers!"

I was just trying to help keep it orky.

I agree with MM except for the green bit at the end. Who's to say they're not fighting on Gorka Morka and they're Rebel Grots. Rebel Grots built stuff for themselves.

Well, the last part WAS meant as opinion and to qualify why my numbers might've seemed a bit expensive.

I think it is pretty cool, but for LOS purposes it might get shot down pretty easy. Looks rather wide. But I like the idea behind it.

I think grots are awesome and fun to use. They can really make people mad and if they don't work out who cares they are cheap!!!
