Shrink wrap...remove, or not?

Hey all.
I have a completely stupid question.

Last week I stopped by the local Goodwill, in search of treasures. I tend to find lots of neat crap to turninto terrain, base debris, or for resale by various channels. Model kits, wooden columns, etc etc.
Amazingly, I was rummaging around the board games and discovered a sealed box of Dark Eldar Reaver Jetbikes stuffed into a pile of puzzles! The box is a little worse for wear, but it seems to be factory-sealed still, with the shrink wrap and original price tag still intact.

My dummy question is, should I remove the shrink wrap to verify all the contents, or leave it on for its eventual new owner? It's an old Third Edition box, but the shrink has those little easy-open vent holes in it, so I'm guessing it's never been opened.

Is there any inherent value to leaving the factory shrink on the box, and selling it as "new in shrink" over opening it and verifying all parts are present, but labelling it as "new in opened box?"

I know the very first tactical marine box I ever bought was a Third Edition kit from an eBay seller, which was new in shrink wrap. When I got it, and opened it up, it was missing several sets or arms and backpacks. GW customer service told me to eat it, as they can't verify that the seller didn't bust it open, poach parts, and reseal with a shrink wrapping machine.

So, open this to verify parts, or not?

I would say open it.
My thought is that it is better to open it and verify the contents, rather than have a pissed off trader "come back at you" after receiving the box and finding that it is missing parts.

Whereas I would suggest leaving it "as-is" and telling traders how you got it. Warning them that it MAY be incomplete and un-replaceable.

Are these the "all plastic" bikes or the hybrid kind that was the first DE reaver bike? (I remember some metal components, but could be wrong).

And heck, I might be up for em, as I have as a low want at the moment, DE Jetbikes.. lol

They are the "hybrid" kind. Metal upper bodies and additional parts. Essentially,t hey're these guys in an older box:

I would leave it as-is & sell it as NISB.
Make sure you note the age of the product, and you're set.

NISB has more value than "on sprue" or "opened box" to those who would collect old stuff.

Gotta agree with MM. Do as already suggested and put in how/where you got them just in case there is anything wrong. Of course, then everyone will know you payed lower then yard sale prices for it and be less likely to give you much.

I ended up selling them for less than half of retail, which is fine. I made a small profit (I got them for $3!), and someone who can use the figs got them.
