Winter Dwarf Army Colors

Okay I know that most if not all Dwarf armies use earth tones and the such, and I know that you can paint them any scheme you wish but I want to do something different I've just about run out of idea's. So my question is would be what color paint scheme would work for a winter theme army? I orginally thought I would lite blues & lite grays with a hint of gold, but thinking about that I really don't know it that would work out right, plus some of their beards I know for sure will be painted white, and maybe some a blonde color. Any feedback would be very helpful. Thanks for everyones time and I look forward to hearing from you..... :-D

Ice blue, codex grey, silver armor with gold trim. I would not limit your self to just 2 beard colors. I'd have black, brown, red, white, blonde, and grey beards haphazardly throughout the army. Making sure the livery has the same colors is what will bring your army together.

Red clothes & helmet with white trim & gloves. Black boots.

Do it.

Make it happen!

Thanks for your replys, thinking about the beards I guess I do need to add some colors besides white & blonde. I like the Ice blue, and codex grey colors trimmed in gold. At first I had thought about painting them black with chainmail trimmed in gold but I didn't think that would work out never as good.

Red clothes & helmet with white trim & gloves. Black boots.

Do it.

Make it happen!

Eric, that one made me chuckle.... But if I did that I would have to some wood elves, and a sleigh. I don't think there are any reindeers in the world of warhammer let along have to fight Mr. Humble Bumble & Yukon C, a Rabid Frosty the Snowman all tainted by chaos....lol

You could also mix light blues and dark blues. Have Enchanted Blue and Ice blue be your two primary colors, and I would agree that silver would work better as an armor color. Blue is a cold color, and if you wanted to keep that theme, just keep the beard colors cold as well, which would mean avoiding blonde and red/orange beards. You could even use a light blue wash to give your metal a colder feel to it as well.

Oh yeah! Didn't mention it before, but snow effects would be a good edition too.

Reegsk, I believe you hit the nail right on the head about mixing the lite blues and dark blues. I'm just wondering how my slayers would look with lite gray/or white beards, yes I know that they usually red/orange but I'm not really one to follow the system that much...Ironhide you are right about the possibilties with the snow effects on the bases, I had thought about maybe using some kind of ruined stone with snow upon them. You guys have all been a great help, and I thank you all for your input...Regards Soulbinder.

Always happy to help out a fellow Dwarf player.

I don't know if you've ever worked with the fake snow for bases, I haven't personally, but a lot of people have told me that you can't just apply it straight over the base.

GW posted up that article this winter, and it gives a LOT of great snow-basing techniques, with plenty of different styles for almost any situation. The first page is just a stage-by-stage of one technique, but click over to the second page, and you'll be all set.

You can also use the snow effects on the models, like in these two pics:

Or alternatively, you can use white paint to give the hint of icing or snow accumulation, such as was done on this model:

Well, as long as you're doing SNOW EFFECTS on the bases...
