What do I do with this?

I was working on a trade with a member here, we worked out the details of the trade and had it complete.

We had worked out a trade before and it all worked out fine (for fewer items), but this time it is a larger deal and different and he contacted me for more of the same type of items..

After everything was hashed out the member I was dealing with told me he had to go to his storage and get the models we had worked out the trade for, I thought strange because he had a itemized listing of what he was trading from the beginning...

I had started to send my portion out to him but thought I better wait as some of this was not making sense to me now, I mean how would you make a detailed listing down to the model and then say "they are in storage" and "I have to verify the content now"??

After not hearing from him for a bit I sent a PM saying to him that I did not get a response to the previous PM and he responded with this:
"Sorry for the delay, I was trying to get everything together. My ****** stuff was in storage, so I'll need an extra day or two to make sure I have everything."

OK, so fine and I PMed him:
"Just making sure you got the PM, I have been swamped also with things going on as well so no big deal.

Now I have PMed him a few times and he wont answer my PMs and I don't know what to do, obviously I am very Leary now and have all the PMs to collaborate my story but I am in Limbo as I have made a deal and the stuff I was trading is stuck. This has now been going on for about a month now.

What exactly is my responsibility in this matter? do I report this? do I leave Negative on him for not following through (I know he is reading my PMs because they are no longer in my out box when I sign on)

I don't want to burn anyone unnecessarily but want to just conclude this thing one way or the other...

If the guy got cold feet on the trade - fine but just let me know what the hell is going on!

Fustrated - and looking for input...

Warlord

You gotta show proof here. Post your Pms. I dont mean this nasty- Did you read the rules? If you dont post the proof within 24 hours- you might get suspended.

Did you two come to an agreement on what was being traded? Did you both exchange adresses? Did you both say something allong the lines of "yes I am good with this trade"? If it's a yes to all of them then it may be a deadbeat/backout but how many days ago did he send the pm saying he needed a day or two to check his stuff?

You should post all pms in order (oldest to newest) which you two exchanged so the mods/watchmen can check it out.

Also a neg is perty serrious if it's just a 'cold feet' thing, might wanna wait till some colorfull members can look through the pms.

I did not name any names because I was just looking for advise on how to handle this, when I read the rules It seemed to me that is was for filing a "formal" complaint and I am really trying to avoid this as there might be extenuating circumstances involved here (I don't know what is going on because he wont answer my PMs and I don't want to unjustly accuse anyone of doing anything wrong - for all I know he could be in the hospital and someone else reading his PMs)

Should I PM him as say something like "Hey, if I don't hear a response I will be forced to contact the boards admins and file a formal complaint"??

EZ mac:

Yes we did come to an agreement and we had exchanged address in our previous dealings and I resent the information for him to verify as well so it was very clear. it was clear the the trade was mutual also by his responce: "Other than that, it works for me. I'll throw in..." is what was said... and this was on Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:01 am.

The following was sent at the following times:

Sent: Wed Mar 17, 2010 8:06 am - "Sorry for the delay, I was trying to get everything together. My <SNIP> stuff was in storage, so I'll need an extra day or two to make sure I have everything."

Sent Mon Mar 22, 2010 10:10 pm - "Hey man, haven't forgot about you, just been swamped at work. Pulling those O&G out of storage tomorrow and inventorying everything."

Sent: Wed Mar 31, 2010 10:18 am - "Sorry, work has been busy. Will try to take a look at my <snip> stuff this weekend."

That was the last PM I got from him and since I have PMed him with no response to any.

Considering the text above, especially the emboldened text, I'm moving this where it belongs, to a discussion forum.

Warlord2009, rather than giving you a board warning for this, or a temporary suspension, I expect you to read the rules of posting on Bartertown, as well as the rules for posting in this forum (Deadbeats & Backouts), and PM me after you have done so.
Please, do so within 72 hours (3 days).

Thanks.
Eric

Regarding this "deal", you've waited almost 2+ weeks for him to check on things, and while I can see how his other obligations have probably interfered with him checking on the items; it doesn't excuse the fact that he has had at least 2 weekends to go by his storage place and get them. He has had more than ample time to get his stuff together. I'd give him one last PM telling him to either get his end of the trade together and ship, or you will post this (the proper way) in the Backout Forum.

The above is based on the fact that you both did agree on a deal.

Example of a deal being made:
You: My XXXX for your XXXX? Sound good?
Him: Yes. (Or responds in an affirmative vernacular)
Exchange of addresses occurs between the two with agreed upon shipping details.

This is Q&A, not BTR/BO. Full proof isn't required at this stage.

If moving to BTR/BO, then proof will be expected.
