a question for wh fantasy players

Post by Gaijin18 »

I pretty much know what the going rates for things are as far as warhammer 40k go,but really don't know what the after market for fantasy stuff is so my question is what are the prices like for empire cannons/mortars I don't need the crews just the guns themselves.

Thanks
Tim

Personally, I tend to base the price off of the retail value of the item in question. I believe the Great Cannon/Mortar kit is $20 retail, so I'd be looking for around $16 new, $10 assembled and $6 painted, but those are off of my personal preferences for how much I'll pay given the item's condition.

The cannon/mortar question is a good one. You can make both a cannon and a mortar from the same box set. You only get one set of crew and one frame but both a cannon and a mortar assembly. Several people where I play never go anywhere near the mortar, so there should be extra bits all over the place. I would guess this is true all over the hobby.

I found this one it's a Dark Elf Banner pole that can be used as a spear it may work for you. It's the closest one I've found.

Depending upon which box that comes in, you may be able to find extras. Soulbinder, are you sure that's a banner pole, and not a regular spear variant, or a champion's spear? If it is a banner pole (or even a champion spear), but it comes from the DE spearmen box, you may be able to track a whole bunch of those down. The older fantasy regiment boxes (ones that come with 16 and not 10 models) also come with two command sprues. Since one box makes one unit, you only need one set of command bits, so they may have lots left over. Especially if they have several of those units. I know I have more Dwarf banners than I'll ever need in ten armies. Maybe post something up in the fantasy section with the pick SB provided. Or you could even post it up in this thread. You may be able to get some simply by doing something goofy.

I can tell just from looking at it and looking at the pic on GW site, it is the DE banner pole minus the cross pole that the banners hang from.

got the spear points I needed.

Here is another question for my fellow gamers of fantasy

How many guns can you build out of the empire rocket/hellgun box set? is it just one or the other or can you build two? I ask because gw no longer has sprue picks up >.<

If your modelling skills are acceptable, then you can magnetize the two to have different guns on the platform, otherwise just one. Good luck!

Yeah, as oaf said, you can only get one gun out of the kit. You have the bits to make both the Hellblaster and Rocket Battery weapons, but you only get the one weapons carriage. So a lot of people magnetize or pin the weapon to swap it out, but unless you can find (or build) an appropriately-sized gun carriage, you’re stuck with the one.
