Handling broken models
Got a unit of Warmachine Menoth Choir. When I opened the package two of the models had broken pieces. Now I do not want to give the seller a hard time as he seems like a good guy, but I was wondering what the general practice is for resolving these kind of issues. I could possibly repair the models but it will be a pain in the butt. Let me know what you guys think is the best way to resolving this issue.

When you received the Choir was the package still factory sealed? If so contact the mfg.

Re: Handling broken models
Did the seller mention that they were broken?
Were they packaged well or just thrown into a box?
I would contact the seller and let him know of the situation and come to an amicable agreement on how to fix the situation.

Re: Handling broken models
I don't know the Menoth Choir models that well. I assume they are multi-part, correct? Did the break occure on a glue line (for example an arm popping off)? If so, that is a very common thing in shipping, especially with metal models (superglue is super strong when force is applied in one direction, but will snap easily if it is applied in a different direction). Now if they are broken in a manner different that a glue break, I would contact the seller.
By trading with me you agree that all signature based trade rules are not in force. If it isn't in the PM thread then it doesn't apply.

Re: Handling broken models
If they broke due to poor packaging, contact the seller and tell him the problem. Hopefully you two can figure out a compromise.

Re: Handling broken models
If the 'menofix' part of the models were broken, then I would say (with deep sympathy) "join the club." That part of those models are notorious for breaking!! Bummer part is... not an easy fix either, but it is fixable.
I've received Menoth Choir broken, and sent out broken Choir; in addition, I try to pack stuff really well and I've STILL had those damn things break!
- it's the nature of those models, unfortunately.
If it's other than the poles/menofix's then... ya - they shouldn't be broken unless the box/package has been destroyed in transit.

Re: Handling broken models
With some creativity all models can be packed to not break. It just depends on how much effort you want to put into it.
If it has sikey type bits that pop off, like bits on vehicles, then impale a piece of styrofoam on the spikes. then tape it down, you can even wrap the entire mini with soft foam and then wrap it with tape.
I sent out a bunch of TK skellies. I had 2 break at the spine because i didn't have the foam in tight enough.

Re: Handling broken models
Thanks for the replies all. Looks as though I will just suck it up and try to repair them. Yes it was the Meno part at the top of the staffs. I may even get creative and just remove them all as I could easily see them fall apart later. Either way thanks again for all of the replies!

If you have a very small drill bit, a very thin gauge brass rod, and more patience than two saints taped together to form one giant saint, you can brass rod them! Seen it done to very good effect, just never done it myself.
Do I owe you a trade ref? Remind me- sometimes I forget!

Re: Handling broken models
Pinning together models is all part of the fun of Bartertown. I remember putting together a Grey Knight army and you get alot of busted off halbred ends. It's not a big deal 5 minutes and you're back in business and stronger than before.
