If someone is harassing you, how do you go about setting them to ignore?

You can add them to your foes list (look in your user control panel). That way you don't have to read their posts unless you really want to. You can ignore their PM's by just deleting them before you open them.

If you're truly being harassed and you didn't provoke it, then I would send a copy of all the PMs to an admin to get it to stop. For your own sanity, I would still put them on your FOES list; however, after reading your "Random Rant" post from this morning, I am going to guess you've already done this.
I am
not an admin, but I am a member of this awesome community. We, as a community, understand that people have disagreements and that "words of an unwholesome nature" are occasionally exchanged, but harassment is not something we want in our community.
In my opinion, I think most of our community desires to "agree to disagree" when disagreements happen, and to avoid behaviors that are just flat out unproductive.
On that note,

Thank you. I have been around a good while, I just had not bothered with the fiddlies. Read the rules and have made sure to always abide them but never bothered with the technical aspects of the site.
I will likely just add that person to my foes list (now that I know what it is. Dumb me had seen that and not realized it was actually an ignore button

) and start deleting all of the spam messages they have been sending me.
Again, I appreciate the technical support.

A testament to me following references and
NOTHING else. He's had 7 trades, so that's "new" to me. For the record, I saw his sign up date.

I've had more then 7 trades. If I were to have a reference for every trade, sale, gift given, time someone backed out on me, I would have a LOT more then the 7 glowing ones I do have. True though, I am not near as prolific as many others here. The cost of being poor I reckon.

Indeed... we've all had "dead-beat" references... or lack-there-of.
Correction from:
He's had 7 trades[...]
to:
He's had 7 confirmed trades[...]
Man... all this just b/c I wanted to welcome someone

LOL

this wasn't ment to be insulting just pointing out that while doesn't have a lot of feedback that he has been on longer than some people.

All good
How'd that FOE list work for ya? Did it remove his posts, etc.?

To be fair, not everything you refer to is ELIGIBLE for a reference:
trade - Eligible but, if your partner was unsatisfied, NO ref might be better than the one they'd have given, considering their options.
sale - Same as above.
gift given - While ref's for "gifts" are left up to the individual traders, we actively discourage it to keep ne'er-do-well's from giving away a bunch of bits to boost their score in preparation for "the big hit." Also, you should NEVER expect a reference for a gift... EVER... By definition, a GIFT is
something you give without expectation of anything in return.
time someone backed out on me - Ineligible for references.

"gift given" - Don't do gifts, always get something so you can both bump ratings. Even if it's completely trivial, it's still a trade, and it qualifies for a bump. The bitz section is your friend here. But really, giving away for a scam is pretty odd. Most scammers don't spend hours and $100+ in postage to set up this way on BT, because BT isn't that diligent. There's always some idiot who's willing to send or pay first to a total n00b with <10 ref. Even guys who don't have to and should know better. So explain why a scammer should work so hard when he doesn't have to.
"backout" - if it's a legit backout, you can definitely Neg them.
What should also qualify is being able to Neg somebody for a false report, because most likely, you'll never want to trade with that person...

Still debating as to whether or not to use it. As this person is following me about spreading false stories in order to try to get people to not trade with me, I am thinking I might want to at least see the lies in case someone asks me about them in preparation for a trade. My reputation is impeccable (for dern good reason)and I want to keep it that way in spite of slander.
A further question, does it remove their posts totally from my sight or just blank out the contents of them?
