Good Day,
Has anybody tried Arcane Legions?
It looks interesting but I would like some input before getting into something new.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Never heard of it. It looks like Battle lore. Prepainted minis are neat. Its reasonably priced. $35 for a two player starter. Booster/Army packs are $12/$15.
I looked over most of the "instructional videos" (lol, a bit funny), it seems pretty simple. I just cant find any events/retailers close to me.
It looks like a good game though!

I play it and I love it. Cheap buy in and good gameplay. Check with your LFGS and have them contact Wells Expedition to see if there is someone in your area that can do demos.

...or contact them yourself and see if YOU can be that person (for some free swag, of course).

I think Im going to pick this up myself. Im going to get a starter set. Im going with the Romans & trade out the rest of the factions for more Roman troops. I'll probably paint up the figs.

Are the "Mercenaries" a later expansion?
The 3 factions are:
Romans
Egyptians
The Han (China/Japan)
Nice find! Thanks for the tip!

There are some mercenaries mixed in with some of the stuff, I don't remember right off hand where they were, I know that some of the Egyptian cavalry is mercenaries, which is what I have.

Good Day,
Thank you for the replies so far
@Starslayer: Yeah the videos are pretty funny but it is an ingenous way to help learn the rules.
@Bubba Ho-Tep: I would love to have a demo, 2 things stopping me. 1) The closest LFGS is 2 1/2 hours away, 2) I am not even sure they are restocking the game. I was there in October and they had lots of stuff (all the items in fact) and was there just on Wednesday this week and they had hardly any stock.
@Magickalmemories: It would be cool to be a whatever they call their guys but see above, and since I make it even close to the LFGS's in the Phoenix/Tempe area once a month and not at all (typically) from November through February. I am sure they would want more of a commitment than that.
I am intrigued by the abstract movement and simple combat resolution (RISK any one) that I may have to see about getting at least a starter. Of course then I have to find some one to play with (hopefull that will fall into place next autum), and someplace to buy them.
Thank you,

Go here and watch the videos, they are kind of corny, but they will show you how to play.

The instructional videos are a little funny. The Roman General reminds me more of an accountant then a soldier. But the rules seem pretty simple. I think I have them down pretty well, just by watching the video. A definite buy for me.

Slotted definitely in the beer and pretzels section. Not much in the way of complexity. Also think it is one of those drop some money in and then never play it again after 6 months.
While we are talking new games. Just picked up a little card game called Chrononauts. Really, really, good game. Lots of fun solo or with a group.

My local shop bought a big lot of the stuff when it came out, and still has quite a bit. I've never seen anyone play it. I looked at the overview and website when the stock hit shelves, but wasn't a fan of the Booster Box distribution model. I want to know exactly what models I'm getting in a kit, none of that "collectible" junk with rarities and such. I had enough of that chasing rare figs in Star War Minis and Heroclix. Soooo much money wasted.

Just get the Legion Bundle so you don't have to worry about random booster packs.

Im not too worried about the "collectible " aspect of the game. Not having the "rare" figs wont destroy any chance you have of winning. Im gonna give it a shot.
