and you do not have to adhere to lowest rating ships first either. ive traded with people in the 900's and they have paid or shipped first with me and im under a hundred. Also even if a high trader loses the reciept if you keep all the pms you can take it to the unresolved forum and get help to fix it.

i really do not understand why people have issues with not getting feedback. sure one here or there but ive got mostly all my feedback or atleast pmed them. sometimes things just arent gonna happen and you can go make other trades and forget the lost reference.

@Doctari-like you said neither leaving feedback nor lower rating ships first are part of the "rules", how you decide to deal with them is up to you.

Neither is against any rules.

I generally use my rating to give me a little bit of padding on shipping times. Meaning I know I can't ship it out the next day, but I should be able to get to it soon afterwards. Large trades are different obviously.

Do I pay first? Generally I do. But that's another thread from a few weeks ago under "risk management". If you don't find someone willing to deal with you because of that...then they probably aren't an ideal trade partner anyways.

References aren't truly the "currency" of Bartertown, it's more like your credit score.
Lower rating? I ask that you ship first. Also, if I offer a stupidly good deal and you try to negotiate even lower...don't call it bad communication that you didn't get a reply. I deleted the message.

I was 1 of the "group of people that were asked to remove the "Never trade with..." portion of their sigs".

The reasoning was the person weren't able to defend themselves, like they could in a BTR or backout.
So I just keep the left in DNT folder.

Also, like I said, I've also had people what it takes to get on my always trade with list.
Sorry, I see it as silly. It boils down to the rules, which I think your sig line is manipulative and nothing but a loop hole. Several years ago, there was a group of people that were asked to remove the "Never trade with..." portion of their sigs and yours (and others) is just as bad.

There is nothing stating that positive references are an entitlement.

By the same tone as what you are doing, what if one of them was to leave you negative feedback after seeing your sig? They completed a trade with you and have decided that "they would never trade with you again", so left a negative. It's all well and good because they have followed the rules and in their mind they wouldn't. It's not retaliatory, so...

I's a loop hole and manipulative...but within the rules.

Is it right? Absolutely not, but neither is blackmail by peer pressure.
Looks at kt's current sig line.
What I want to know is what did I do to get REMOVED?
LOL

That actually WOULD be a rules violation, since the reference was left because of the sig line, and not about the trade.
Doctari wrote:Here's the problem with "it's not part of the rules". Neither is "lower rating ships first".

BUT: Every single person on this board uses it as the law.
Sadly, they do not. I wish more people, especially lower rated ones, did so... but they do not.

Doctari wrote:It is also used as a gauge of probability. When I say that I mean this:

Let's assume I trade with Porkuslime. He has a rating of 480 billion I have a rating of mid 50s. Now for whatever reason Porkus has decided that he doesn't feel the need to ship out his part of the trade. I come on the boards and complain about it, he disputes it and says "hey I lost the reciept but look I traded with 4 other people this week who got their stuff." Who is the community going to believe?
I, for one, am going to totally and 100% believe Pork. Then, I'm going to turn around and say that he still needs to make you whole, because it does not matter what i BELIEVE. It matters what he can PROVE.
Doctari wrote:The guy with 1k + rating. In retaliation he posts negative feedback, my middle of the road rating goes down his stays roughly the same and no one ever trades with me again.
Then, you complain about his ITL abuse, we look into it and see that it was clearly done out of revenge. We, then, remove the reference, reset your score, and ban his sorry @ss.

Now, on the subject of "no reference left" (NRL) notices in sig lines; I'm okay with them. These are factual postings. A NRL notice is simply stating, "I left this guy a ref, and he has not left one in return." You're posting no opinions about them, either direct or indirect. On the other hand, the DNT lists, while still factual, had a lot more indirect opinions and questions about them. There's no telling WHY they were there, just that they were. Like kt, I was one of the first to have them in their sig line (THE first, I believe), and one of the first to remove them when requested.
I have no problem with NRL notices in sig lines and, though I won't keep one, myself, my vote would always be against requiring their removal, whould such a vote ever come up.

If you guys will excuse me, now, I'm going to go weep about kt's sig line. :'(

Lower rating? You ship first.

MM, you being a mod and having a high rating are testament enough of your credit as a good trader.

the sig line's only so large, names had to get pruned; like topics on this board.

as new[e]r traders complete trades with me, some of the older, higher rated traders will be removed. [probably 300 or 500 refs and up].

besides, i don't trust poultry. ;-)

I'm not a Mod. I'm an Admin.
Just saying... ; ) LOL

In all seriousness, kt, I figured that was what the deal was. You know I can't pass up the opportunity for a little harassment, though. LOL
