Overseas purchase

Post by jdelrio22 »

So I am looking into doing a possible purchase with a gent here at b-town but he is in the UK. Now currently he has 8 rep but I am a bit weary since it would be a really big purchase.

In the past even with people with lower rep, I have sent funds first before receiving the models. Is this something I should re-consider for oversea payments?

I would reconsider it, yes. Maybe send enough at first to ensure he has the funds to mail, and then send the balance on reciept of the models.

You are certainly in a position to ask for him to do his side first, however, in my opinion.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

My only suggestion is to break it down into smaller parts, but that will raise the shipping.
You pay a small amount, he ships it and a bit more. say fro example, you pay in 4 installments and he ships out 3 sets.

If his rating is 8, I'd say ship first or no deal. I'm with Jim, though, that I'd be willing to send some along first so he has enough funds to ship out.

I'll third that.
Have you checked the BTR forum recently, jdelrio? There's no way I'd send money first to ANYONE with such a small ref count - no insult intended to the anonymous trader you are referring to- with the possible exception of a SMALL amount ($20 or less) for shipping. Even THEN, it's questionable and on a case by case basis.

Lower rating? You ship first.
