MECH Warriors

Post by gilbytoad »

I just aquired a ton of unopened Mech Warriors (113). These are all about 6 inches and appear to be sealed. They are all from between 2003 through 2006. Can anyone tell me if they are worth opening to try to trade or sell or to not open them to trade and sell? Any help on this issue would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi there,

I collected MW for a heck of a long time, up through Annihilation and the set after. The game is now pretty much "dead", and only a few ultra-rare figures seem to be worth very much any longer. None of the super-duper rares are found in the boosters. There are red-based chase figures that were available in newer sets, but those don't seem to be sought after any longer.

As for value, that is of course relative. I recently sold roughly 150 mechs and around that many vehicle and infantry pieces for something like $80 in trade. This included mail-away, convention, and tournament prize pieces.

I have heard of people using the figures for other games, but as a much cheaper alternative to the real models of their chosen game.

As for whether or not to open the packs, I think they are worth the same either way, which is unfortunately not much. You can generally get 1 dollar for a mech and a few cents for vehicles and infantry. Booster packs tend to go for a couple of dollars each or so. For now, I would suggest leaving them sealed. You might need to sit on them a bit, but eventually you should be able to unload them and hopefully get a decent return.
Always remember that your stuff is nearly worthless junk. The other person's items are highly valuable collectibles.

If I owe you a reference, please remind me.

Thanks for the honesty. Seems I may be building a cool army of Mechs for my garage out of this collection if nobody wants to trade or buy them. Its amazing how cool these things look and to find out they do not have alot of value. Do you know how much these cost brand new each? Are there any sets better than others? Thanks again.

Hold on.. 6 inches tall? The Mechwarrior Clix are NOT that big.

Is there any way we can see a picture of what you are talking about? Who manufactured them? If it is Wizkids and this is for the Collectible Mini game, then aurak_merc has it about right...

BUT, there are other collecible Mech items not made by Wizkids and those CAN be rather nice, price wise.

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

I forgot about some of the other MW stuff Porkuslime. There was a series of figures made by Joyride that were kind of hard to find, and hence are worth more than the clix.

So I think that may open up new possibilities Gilbytoad. If what you have are Wizkids made, my assessment is probably fairly reasonable. If they are made by someone other than Wizkids, it certainly warrants an extra look. If by some strange coincidence they are the old Tyco Battletech toys, and you still have them in package...you just struck gold. People pay insane prices for those for some reason.

For Wizkids, there were essentially 2 "eras". The first started with Dark age and had something like 5 sets in it (Fire For Effect, Death from Above, Falcons Prey, Counter Assault...maybe one more?). The other era started with Age of Destruction and went until whatever the last set was. The main difference with these figures was that there were plastic gear and pilot cards that you could use to modify your mechs. These cost extra points and gave different abilities so you could somewhat customize your figure.

In general, Dark Age is the least valuable as it was loaded with construction mechs and a lot of less than competitive models. For that era, Counter Assault seemed to be the most sought after when I was playing.

For the second era, I don't know what would be more valuable. Probably newer stuff, but I stopped playing/collecting fairly early into this part.

Brand new, I believe they were $9.99 retail for booster packs.

I think the boxes are 6 inches tall. I did open a few and the robots are about 3 1/2 inches high and very detailed.

take a picture of one of the boxes. it will answer alot of questions.
It is kinda hard to trade when people don't reply to PMs or posts.
Please reply, lots of us want your stuff.
And besides it is the polite thing to do.

I only ship priority mail only and would like my trading partners to do the same.
