Warmachine help!? What to play?

Hiya,
My gaming group is getting a bit sick of GW and their bs. We are looking at playing Warmachine and wondered if anyone has recommendations on what armies to play, or to stay away from? Or just cool units that a new player might enjoy. I have looked through the rulebook, and their website. It is hard to pick when they have so many cool models.

Pick your favorite color and grab a few models that match that scheme. This works nicely because it makes no logical sense, yet allows you to experience the game and an army. Other nice part of Warmachine is that you can paint every single model in their lineup faster than it takes to do a single GW army.

If you are tired of GW you might want to wait until WM mark 2 comes out so you don't have to buy things over or replace the things they changed/upgraded.
As for what faction to play, I would go have a look around the PP boards for that answer.
